This is basically an institute/college for mountaineering students. With all due respect to these youngsters who have chosen such adventurous path, it's not something I enjoyed visiting.

Interesting to see some of the kit used on the early Everest expeditions! Don't know how they survived !!

This place is situated beside the Zoo. You would get some historical details from the museum. The museum was very neat and clean. (August-2015)

HMI gives a very good insight into the history of mountaineering in the Himalayan region... Only problem is that you need to walk uphill to have a glimpse of this history

its basically a museum on which all information and equipments are displayed in the musem .all tools which were used in everst hiking

Very informative but up on a steep hill and one has to get through the zoo to get to it and y see all the animals in to small Enclosure

The entry fee is Rs. 50 for both HMI and the Zoo packed together. Camera fee is Rs. 10. The time depends on you. For ourselves, it took more than 3 hours to visit the two. Also there is a Natural History Museum in the zoo... More
