The ride from the top og the mountain passing so high above tea plantations is an excellent experience. But compared to the cost, the location maintenance, staff behaviour and crowd management are so poor. The boarding locations on either end are too primitive to say the least. Access is so uncomfortable. No consideration for customers at all. But still may be worth considering the different opportunity. Plan for long waiting and queue. We lost half day for the 40 minute rides

The Ropeway in Darjeeling is a prominent tourist attraction, and our visit there was nothing short of a delightful experience. We hired a cab from the mall area and traveled a short distance to reach the ropeway ticket counter. Although the counter opens at 10 am, we were surprised to find a long queue even before its opening. Therefore, I recommend reaching the counter early to avoid such a queue.
Once we obtained our tickets, we had to wait for around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the crowd, to board the ropeway car. However, the wait was worth it, as the panoramic views of the hills and valleys from the ropeway car were truly majestic.
The ropeway car took us to the topmost destination, where we could enjoy some refreshing drinks such as tea, coffee, or beer. Afterward, we returned to the starting point with the same ropeway car, concluding our wonderful experience.
Overall, we had a great time at the Ropeway in Darjeeling and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

It looks like a junkyard, absolute no maintenance and pathetic , most of the cars are not used as it has become junk, remaing cars also are in very bad condition.hardly few cars are there and it takes hours in queue.By mere look any one can make out the condition of this entire system. The company putting the life of tourist in danger.its not safe and worth .

Some basic flaws and miss management makes this 25mins experience total worthless.
1st - approach to rope way entry point is poor. Cabs will insist to climb up take steep steps to avoid the congested drive way.
2nd the Wait time was 1.5 hrs with no proper seating space for Sr Citizens.
The low number of car’s makes wait time crazy on a busy day.
The quality and maintenance of the car and boarding place is poor.
The view overall is average but peaceful.
On other side, you have to exit the car and wait in line Again to take another car for return journey. Min 20 mins wait time.
So in summary if you have experienced rope way before then this one is avg and doable only if you have spare free time and money.

The queue was long and excruciatingly slow. It’s very difficult to manage with kids as waiting time was around 3 hrs that also in a not so peak season. View is okay. And then you have another 30 mins wait at down station. Overall you would waste 4-5 hrs which is almost your day for one point.

ropeway is tediously long and kills all the excitement because of its exceptionally lengthy haul. other than the waiting time the ropeway will take about an hour both ways and there is absolutely nothing to do after you reach down and waiting to go back to the origin is very frustrating. I will not suggest to go for it , it will kill your important 2-3 hrs

Reach early to buy tickets in time . In peak season even earlier.
Total ride to and fro is 45mins
Great picture opportunity as you ride over the tea gardens
Not much to do on the other side, except small eateries. Can also ride back directly without getting off

Fantastic Ropeway point in Darjeeling
Fantastic view of valleys
Always crowded but.
Take extra time in hand to travel.
Ticket charge is nominal.
Views are just to die about.

It is just a 3 km hike from Darjeeling. You may have to wait in line for a bit. But the trip is absolutely worth it. The entire journey presents magnificent views of the mountains and the tea gardens, and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. thankfully I checked the weather on climacell before I went there, as the ropeway is closed during bad weathers.

If you are visiting Darjeeling then you must try the ropeway. On a clear day you will get to witness the mesmerising view of the tea gardens , the lovely hills and the houses below . The experience is surreal. The overall ride is for 40 minutes . You can get down at the end of the trip downwards and take pictures in the tea garden and also enjoy some tea and snacks in the small shops . Then you hop back and get to the place where you started the journey

Winter gives good views of the Kanchanjunga from tiger hill so prefer to go during that time. The rope way functioning is erratic that cannot be guaranteed. Rest of the other attractions are open round the year.
