Went for work.
Located quite centrally, well connected with areas like South Extension, Lodhi Road, Defence Colony.
The grounds and the stadium are a sight to behold.
Lots of space. Comfortable seating.
Rest of the amenities actually will depend on the organisers of a particular event.

The stadium has all the facilities needed to host an athletic meet. The amenities are great. Its maintenance and cleanliness are appreciable. There are VIP rooms. Washrooms are enough and non-stinking. Rooms to be allotted to different teams are enough in number. Chairs are conditioned. There is a canteen area where different stalls can be put up for selling eatables and beverages.
The stadium right in the heart of the city. Hence, it is easily accessible. Specially, the Central Railway Station is walking distance from here. On the completion of the Metro Project, it will be accessed from different parts of the city.

Went to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for ISL match between FC Goa and Chennaiyan FC. The stadium is quite big and the maintenance is decent. But the crowd management was definitely poor. The pitch wasn't clearly visible from the terraces.

But in all, this is probably the best football stadium in Chennai and being a football fan, it was good to see the place crowded and filled with people.

I had been to this Stadium during October twice to watch the Pro-Kabbadi Matches...First Time between Tamil Thalaiva Vs Bangalore and the finals between Patna Vs. Gujarat..
A very big and well planned Indoor Stadium. There are many gates for entering to this stadium.Seating capacity is huge. We can see the players from sitting anywhere... Good one... On the final day, we and many people found it difficult to enter the stadium as there was heavy rush. In the absence of good management of the crowd system, we felt much hardship. They should have to manage the crowd by putting more volunteers and opening atleast 4 to five gates. They did open only one gate causing more problems for the people.
AiC facility was very good and pleasant.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was built in 1993 with a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators. The stadium is located at Sydenhams Road, Park Town behind the Chennai Central suburban railway station and the Ripon Building.

The stadium has 400m 8-lane synthetic Athletic Track and a natural turf football pitch in the middle. Facilities for judo, weightlifting, table tennis, shooting and boxing have also been provided. The spectator seating all around the stadium is on two tiers (with each tier having two levels of seating) with stepped access from the outside, at ground level. The spectator seating in the stadium is segmented into 8 blocks (A to H).

There are ten outer gates in the perimeter wall of the Stadium. Gate No1 is the main gate with a guardhouse and is used for stadium access by the players and the VVIPs.

For the traveler, there is absolutely no reason to visit this place unless there is an event taking place. Skip.
