Neighborhood: Adyar
One of the costliest quaint neighbourhoods of Chennai is Adyar, that gets its name from the Adyar river that flows nearby. It has rich historical and cultural roots and is sprinkled with some of city’s oldest residential houses. Home to the IIT campus and with the Guindy National Park close by, it is considered to be one of the hottest spots in the city with the best of eateries, an easy access to the beach and a shopping hub. It’s worth taking a walk in the quiet bylanes to sample traditional south Indian dishes at well-known local family-run establishments especially the rural food from Tamily Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. A visit to the Padmanabhaswamy
Temple keeps the flavor of the temple town intact.

An interesting park with a lot of good information on big signboards. A bit run down but the snakes and other animals inside seemed OK. Very reasonable entrance fee, and further inside you could buy food to feed the green lizards and the two parrots. A very nice and calm visit after the traffic in Chennai.

A vast expanse of green, Guindy National Park is a one-of-a-kind park in Chennai, which is home to many species of animals and birds. A perfect location for a picnic with family and friends, the park offers a variety of amusement for kids including slides and swings. Have a look at the green side of Chennai with the biggest diversity of plants in the city.
It is located about 9 kms from Chennai Central Railway Station and houses a wide of variety of birds and animals including peacocks, swans, cranes, flamingos, owls, bears, and a whole lot of monkeys and langurs.
The entry fee is reasonably low and the paths inside are wheelchair friendly

A great place to see and learn about snakes, crocodiles, lizards and amphibians.
Lots of love exhibits and you're able to get really up close and personal.
No different charge for foreigners (makes a change) 100rs for adults plus there is a small charge (30rs) for using a mobile phone. A really fun and inexpensive way for spending an hour or two

we are first time visitors, and there are entry tickets we bought them, but they by default charging Rs. 20 for taking mobile inside the snake park, i told them we are not going to take pictures we won't pay or if you have a locker we will surrender it, neither for this they accepted but standing in their point, we paid and once we finished the tour, i am surprised there is nothing exciting or special in snake park to take picture, the snake museum in the children's park adjacent is far better which have more snakes than here and in here there are more manmade snake artifacts than real ones. so, my advice is spending more time in children's park and on Saturdays it is totally free, you have many exhibits, good play areas for kids and good well-maintained toilets and eateries inside. so, my advice skip the snake park and utilize the time in children's park itself. in addition, snake park doesn't have electronic payment gateways.
it is not worth to visit snake park, my advice to Childrens park management is they can take custody of snake park also without need to have separate entry pass.

This place is a must go place if you are visiting chennai with little children. They would enjoy the snakes as well as other reptiles. Seeing various snakes from close proximity would definitely make their mind curious. Also the entry ticket is very reasonable with a nominal fee for camera. The place is maintained well too.
Overall a good place to spend time with family. Recommended.

This was a must visit place as a child for me. Visiting with my kid was a trip down the memory lane.
We went around 3:30pm. The reptiles were probably just coming out of their slumber because we got to see the albino python yawn (the biggest yawn I have ever seen), snakes having their afternoon feed etc. The enclosures are well kept and have information placed at center. The costumer center is also very informative.
The highlight however for us was the walk in iguana enclosures. They definitely look scary but We were all glad we did it. A special memory to behold

The snake park is located near Guindy right next to the IIT Madras. It houses a large number of snakes such as Vipers, Cobras, Rock pythons, etc. It should be noted that the Madras Crcodile bank on ECR road is equally good with loads of crocodile species and some snakes too. Combine both of them for a truly fascinating reptile experience.

Chennai being a busy and hot city this Guindy Snake park is a bit different from the city. As it is calm and some what lesser in temperature, thanks to the trees. Though the park attracts many visitors, it isn't maintained to a standard but it also depends on the visitors. It has some varied species and will be a nice watch for kids to get knowledge.

Great place to see multiple types of snakes and turtles. The place is very educative for young children and adults alike. It clears a lot of myths about snakes. Most snakes are not venomous is something I learnt on this visit. The place is not maintained very well and the security staff was not very supportive. Else a fun place. I saw so many snakes tohether that I dreamt of snakes that night !
