One of the best temples to visit in Chennai. Great gopurams, a good tank and lots to see. A good place to come if you've just arrived in India and are wondering what to see first.

The temple is located in the city of Chennai near(2 km) from Santhome beach. It is an old temple and the Lords of the Temple Shiva and Karpagambal are unique and one has to see to experience the divinity. Nayanmar Saints had composed songs on this temple presiding deity Shiva. A divine gift to visit this temple.

Chennai is a metropolitan cums cosmopolitan city and is always busy. In this busy city, Kapaleswarar temple is like a oasis in the desert. This temple is well maintained and one gets visiting an ancient temple feeling. It is neat and clean and offers lot of sentimental and religious values.

A large temple but not daunting that I visited whilst doing a walking tour (Chennai Magic - great experience) of Mylapore in Chennai. It was the first of many temples that I visited in Tamil Nudu and the one I remember most readily (apart from Tanjour). You can't visit Chennai without going to see it.

It was very peaceful and spiritual, there are many temples of lord Ganesha, Kartikeya and the main ones of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. It is of great historic significance (very old) and overall divine. not to be missed.

Reachability: Within the city, well connected and easily reachable via both private and public transport. Waiting time: I visited it on a weekday and during non-holiday season, no queues and hassle. Place: Serene, calm (at least when I visited) and felt the positive waves and energy. Depict the traditional culture, the tomb shows various Indian gods especially lord Shiva and... More
