A tranquil walk in the Huddleston Gardens of the Theosophical Society of India might be needed after grappling with the city din of Chennai. The Theosophical Society is spread over 260 acres but you can certainly cover the garden, which is home to migratory birds, fruit bats, snakes, jackals, wild cats, mongooses, hares and a variety of spiders. A 450-year-old banyan tree resides in the garden with aerial roots covering 60,000 square meters.

Never seen such greenery in Chennai. Beautiful !! Garden timings could be a bit more visitor friendly. (10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm only).

The little garden is a secluded spot right in the city with beautiful flora and fauna. My three-year-old son was busy spotting bugs, butterflies, flowers, and bats. The place was quiet with only a handful of visitors. The big Banyan tree was really huge unlike what I expected it to be. A good place to relax...away from the traffic and... More

I grew up used to a lot of greenery in my home in Kerala. Chennai is definitely not green and coming to this beautiful green and calm area was like a balm for the soul. Definitely a beautiful and calm place in Adayar - the banyan trees and its birds and bats. Definitely a must visit in the morning and... More

Beautifully arranged garden running along the Adyar River. The banyan was enthralling with its colony of fruit bats. Gorgeous stroll.

I had grown up in a place with lot of greenery around and was used to waking up to the sound of birds happily chirping away in anticipation of another beautiful day to come. Somewhere, while pursuing my worldly desires, I had forgotten the pleasure of being one with nature. This place was a trip down memory lane. Full of... More
