Today we did the Jaipur Walking Tour with Vivek. It was a great way to have a ramble around the city streets and to learn about the city itself and experience some of the amazing street food as well as watching and learning about the really skilled work the local people are doing. We found the tour very insightful. …

We decided last minute to take a four hour tour to look at Jaipur jewelry and textiles. We found Raj Tours in Trip Advisers. We called Raj and asked for Shakur (Shakur and Morin were the two names we saw in the review). Shakur answered and explained tha he couldn’t accommodate our request but his colleague Mosin was available. We agreed. Oh, he also asked if we would be ok wit a Tuk Tuk. We had a great afternoon. Mosin took us to the best jewelry location Ratnavati Arts and best textile Heritage Textile & Handicrafts. Yes, we bought jewelry and had shirts and outfits made. We highly recommend Raj Tours.…

I was solo traveling through Jaipur, and my travel agency set me up with Kumar for a city tour. We spent about four hours together, and he showed me, as he says, “my own neighborhood. You are with a local”. We started with some quick food and chai at a local restaurant, and I got a primer on the history and status of Jaipur, the pink city. Lots of helpful information about how and where people live and pray (we entered a temple in full worship, which was fascinating). Later we saw various local artisans practicing their craft: metal smiths, marble artists, and the bangle maker and his apprentice. The last stop was at the wood block printing shop and carpet factory (and show room, but there is no pressure to buy). I didn’t realize it until I arrived, but I was the only person on the tour! In retrospect, it turned out to be a real blessing because in the hustle and bustle (and noise) of the city, it’s so much easier to hear Kumar, and I had a ton of questions, too. All of which he answered helpfully. Would highly recommend Kumar’s tour to anyone who wants to get a taste (in some ways literally) of Jaipur and its everyday hum. For extra credit, I wanted to visit Amer Fort after our tour, and Kumar set me up with a rickshaw driver and a set plan (including a food stop) which ended up being a wonderful afternoon.…

Kumar is quite simply the best tour guide we've encountered in all of our travels. He is very knowledgeable, has a flexible structure for the tour, diplomatic, reliable, protective, and an overall genuine human being. We wanted a cultural walk, but honestly were a little apprehensive about jumping into the experience alone. This tour was everything we wanted and much more. We can't imagine our trip to Jaipur being as full and rich as it was without Kumar...…
