We were there on a Sunday and hence could not enter. But I am sure , this being a university library, people can freely enter. The building is great example of Victorian gothic architecture and well maintained. The stained glass windows add lot of charm to this period building

Started in 1864 having collections of rare old books and Bombay gazette ,made public with some rules and membership details. It .witnessed enhancing culture, motivating readers with first hand knowledge , learning, creativity and literacy skills and research. and hence significantly contributed for the intellectual development. The heritage building was recently restored and applauded by UNESCO.

Mumbai University is the most disliked University by all students because of their illogical deadlines and poor planning. Students take admission by chance, not by choice.

The library building is beautiful. If you are interested in architecture this is one heritage building in the fort area which you must visit. As it is a functional building, it is well maintained and one can view it from the inside too.
We had visited the manuscript library there. Many old manuscripts are available. The catalog sadly is not available online but is a physical book which they share readily. Unlike in many government libraries, here the staff were very professional and helpful.

There is the university and the High Court right alongside each other. Both allow no entry and the High Court building is very much secured with armed guards. The university is beautiful and you can stand at the gate and take photos and poke your camera through the fence as you walk along. The Architecture is stunning and the people have kept it in great condition. Across the road are vast fields and in the weekend you will find it fun to watch 20 to 30 cricket matches being played. You will also find the clock tower here as well so this area is well worth the visit.
