Paddle boat happens to be the most exciting feature to visit this place and that too in winters. A must and repeat visit to this place, whenever one visits Mysuru again. Well maintained and facilitated botanical park is a good thing to experience.

This is an oasis in Mysore. It is kept as a pristine environment and is full of birds. It has the biggest aviary in India, which was interesting. Watch the keeper feeding the birds with his almost pet parakeet. It was so lovely to watch....More

Lake is average. The small zoo of birds is very nice for eyes. Peacocks can be seen dancing and a variety of birds to be seen. Won't take more than an hour for a tour.

Mysore Zoo and Palace tends to get very crowded on weekends. While zoo is still good if you can make it by 9 am. But going to palace on Sunday evening, you might not able to enjoy the exhibit. I remember in my last visit to mysore place, it was a Sunday afternoon and people just kept pushing here and there, could not enjoy it. And with kid it would be more difficult.

Weather and Food (3 Replies)
Am travelling alone between 15th and 17th July. How is the weather will be then? Planning to visit Brindavan Garden, Srirangapatna and sites inside Mysore city like Karanji Lake, Mahraja Palace and Devraja Market. How to commute in cheapest way? How much is the cost going to be? What kind of food do I expect best at Mysore? Heard a lot about MTR and Mysore Dosa. Please suggest a few dishes to test.

Hi, 1. Cheap way to travel in Mysore is by hiring Bicycles & motor cycles. 2. Mysore Dosa at vinayak Mylari restaurant and Mysore Pak sweet at Bombay tiffanys is a must, try some local chats like churmuri, samosa chat. For lunch try ragi ball with Mutton curry or Mutton biryani (if Non veg). 3. Hire a tourist guide if visiting Mysore palace and sriRangapatna, local guides are quite reasonable. 4. Weather is pleasent in July with a few drizzles and showers. Enjoy..

Trip report for Mysore Day 1 - Reached Mysore train station and took a taxi to Windflower resort Mysore about 5 kms from Station. Loved the resort and the 4 days stay there. Very well maintained and they can provide a guide for 200Rs if required. Being a history buff, loved the place. Entry fee is like Rs20/-. So worth it as you are ...More
