On 11th Sep'22, myself with my hubby & son got to visit St. Philomena's Cathedral in Mysuru. It is one of the tallest Catholic church in Asia.

Architecture of the church seems to be wonderful, the church was designed by a Frenchman named Daly. This church was constructed in 1936 and its architecture was inspired by the Cologne Cathedral in Germany.

Behind the church hall, there is another shrine for Mary Maatha, where we lit candles & do meditation.

Had blissful time with family at the church.

The first time when you arrive and look at the structure of the church you would definitely be mesmerised. You can spend 15-20 minutes in the church, it's peaceful. It would be great if more information is available on the structure or some guide around to tell things in detail about it's past and significance.

This Marvellous Victorian Style Church is inspired by the beauty of Cologne Church of Germany. Designed by a French architect and built By Hindu King of Mysuru (Krishnaraj Wodiyar) to cater the needs of the then European residents of the city, this Church is a true symbol of India's secularism and pluralism. The tall twin Spire can be seen from a long distance. It's a must visit if you are in Mysuru.

The Church is situated close to City bus stand and about 2kms from Mysuru Palace.

Church is open from 5 am to 6 pm. Photography inside the church is not allowed.

Parking for visitors is also available inside the church.

I loved the architecture and the sheer size of the structure. I actually had trouble taking a photo of the entire church - so I had to move a bit far away towards the gate. It was really crowded so couldn't find much peace inside the church. Otherwise, the area is nicely maintained and the roads around it were very clean in spite of the crowd.

The best piece of church architecture I have seen in my entire lifetime. In my perception, it beats all the Portuguese style built churches in Goa. This towering cathedral looks absolutely stunning and graceful and is a must visit.
