We headed up for the sunset viewing and got there about 18:30. The place is a grubby dump, apparently the 7th (or 8th) most sacred hill in southern India and is a tip. A row of granite steps to sit on to view the setting sun - sunset obscured by a 2m fence and telephone wires, rubbish everywhere, aggressive monkeys and the usual array of touts asking for money to do this or that. Apparently the Temple is particularly significant and - to be fair - there were a lot of people arriving for its opening at 19:00; but the whole place is a rubbish strewn tip with stray dogs, aggressive monkeys and the inevitable bunch of cows ambling about.

Apparently it is owned by the current Maharajah as part of his extensive property portfolio. Maybe he should start to earn his keep and tidy the place up.

We were here for the evening and arrived to see a multi storey car park on top of the hill, rubbish laying about, a line of market stalls, and hoards of people queuing for the temple.

The best bit about it was a monkey eyeing up a lady who had just opened a banana to eat it....it ran across the road jumped up and stole it from her hand as she went to eat it, wish we had the video camera on at the time.

Bad is just not the word! Isckon is far better though commercial. There were hawkers all the way through to the temple and poorly managed crowds. No one to provide directions and it was almost a large flock of sheep on a tiny grassland. The crowds were so badly managed that we returned without even entering the temple. Bad management or should I say mismanagement?

We visited as we wanted to kill some time on our one day trip to Mysore and we had already visited the Palace. It was underwhelming. I am not sure why all the sacred places, which I have visited in India, seem to be quite dirty with cow dung on the approach to the temples and as you must take off your shoes to enter the temples, you end up having to walk in the unhygienic path, which we did not, before entering the temple. Quite disappointing but the views of the city, viewed at a different location, are quite nice. If you are not there to visit the sacred Hindu temple, go for the views at night.

The Shaktipeeth Chamundeshwari temple as well as the granite Nandi are located on the hill. The road to the temple is well maintained. You get good views of the Mysore city from the top.

Half sleepy half eyes Opend reached to God Chamundi Hills by 5:30am and Welcomed by fully fog n Cold wind weather. Started with Praying at hills, Touched God feet and Blessed.
Areas was well Managed I think specially when you see crowed there, Few Monkeys on Temple were just watching you and your belongings, God Darsan we did From Main gate and later Seated outside of it. I as well but as your Inner core keep telling you More and more, God `ARADHANA`.
Most beautiful place on hills surrounded by fog and cold wind in morning gives u perfect touch of Darsahana. After a while few Shops opend and had fee Cups of teas n Slolwy slowly Moving towards Mysore City.
Mahisasura Statue on entrance is great, I had studied project on my 11th standard about Mahisasura. So I was amazed to see it and remember those school days about God.
Small Shops will diffinetly gives you local aromas, must buy small memories form hills.
On day time you can have look of Mysore city and night it will be Glorious.
Took Innova and slowly slowly moving down.
Parking slot and area arrangment is well mannged on hills. View point on mid way was beautiful arranged. Stop for few minutes and take a look of city from there.
It was great experience around in hills.

Had Mysore trip too on rainy season few areas was too much water, KSR dam was full of water too.

We will again look forward to visit here.
