The place tends to get crowded on weekends by locals who come there for picnic. I had been on both weekend and weekdays. I prefer weekday as its lonly and you can sit for hours together. If you happen go over the weekend, reach early and come back early. Visit in groups to avoid being harrassed or mugged (Just in... More

the place is beautiful and suitable spot for one day picnics. There is no food or eatables nearby. Place looks better while drizzling as it becomes more clean n very less people u find there in rain.Ride takes 30 minutes from mysore. One of the must visit place while in mysore..

This vast, unspoiled natural lake is a pleasure to visit and stroll around. Not much public facilities though, which is a shame, because this could be converted into a prime visitor attraction. Still worth a day visit off Mysuru.

We did a night camping trip here, to watch and shoot photos of the stars and galaxy. The place is very peaceful at night, with just the serene sounds of water hitting the lake shore. Ofcourse, there's a bit of disturbance just around mid-night, by some localites. So it's always better to be in a group of 4 or more... More

The 1000 years old barrage loctaed at Thonnur Kere (140KM from bangalore, 22KM from Srirangapatna) is yet to be affected by commercialization or uncontrollable crowds. On the right edge of the lake there is a beach like place which is an ideal place to picnic. The water, though safe near the shore, is said to be dangerous and many people... More
