The big statue of lord Hanuman atop Jakhu hill can be seen from the ridge. The ropeway to reach atop the hill also from Mall Road, but is expensive.Another way you can climb the stiff hill to reach the temple, which may not be possible for all.The best way to go is to hire a cab, pliantly available near Ridge and other places from Shimla.Taxi charge Rs.1500/--Ra.1800/- for to & fro journey. Prefer small taxi as the road to top of the temple is narrow & stiff.

Jakhu is a must visit place in Shimla, not because of the old Hanuman Temple alone, but also due to its picturesque surroundins. It can be reached either by taxi or by rope-way from mall road. Enthusiasts can go by foot also that for a young person takes about 40 mts. We reached Jakhu peak by rope-way which is a short 5 mts enjoyable ride. However the price of ropeway tickets is quite steep (Rs 500 bothways) which is the reason why it remains deserted even in the peak season. If they keep a reasonable price, many tourists would like to take rope way ride and the Himachal Tourism would also make a profit. They must think on those lines.

Being highest point of Shimla city, you get to see some really nice views from here and the 108 feet feet high statue of Lord Hanuman adds to the charm of the place. But most important aspect of the place is to be beware of the monkeys here !!! Never ever have any eatbles in you hands while visiting here. Also if possible do not wear any kind of eyewear whatsoever. The monkeys are not at all afraid of humans and will harass you upto the point of frustration in case they find anything attractive upon you. If possible have a stick with you but dont threaten them unnecesserely. all in all a fine place Jakhoo is but do take your precautions.

Visited here using Ropeway which was too costly in my opinion but it was worth spending. The hill top is just awesome. But be aware of Monkeys they will come to you like anything and Take Prashad from you , But if you don't have parashad they will take your stuff Mobile phone, Gogle specs and all.

But in a nice and peaceful area you can easily spend the entire day here.

Must Visit if you are here in Shimla

The hill gives a Panoramic view of Shimla, beside having a hundred foot statue of Hanuman at the hill TOP, next to the temple. The hill TOP is also connected by a rope way, which gives an excellent view as you ride it.

Jakhoo Hill is perfect place in Shimla to watch Sunrise or Sunset. Here you can worship in Jakhoo Temple, here you can enjoy picturesque views, food is also available here. You can reach here by limited local transport or by 2km uphill tracking.

Health warnings - the trail/ road up to the summit is tight & tortuous, there are a lot of steps, and the macaque monkeys are a real pain! The hindu temple is small, but the most obviously impressive thing is the 100 foot high orange image of the monkey god. The temple is old but the statue is modern. Invest 50 rupees in a stick - you'll need it to keep the marauding monkeys at bay. They are a real pest, and quite fearless of humans.

It was mesmerising to see 108ft Hanuman idol. The road to the temple is very well built, neat and clean surroundings, a beautiful view of the snow clad mountains from the temple, all these things makes the temple a very beautiful place. A must visit place if you ever go Shimla.

Jakhoo temple is situated in the jakhoo temple hill. The pathway to this starts from one end of mall road. There is also a roap way to reach the temple. The walk up to the hill is very steep, however enjoyable.
