We were fortunate to have accessed a Wendy Wu local tour guide (not an advertisement) who took us to this incredible life like memorial. While we are sure on can access the history books as to its origins it is really quite striking. Just like the Iwo Jima Memorial in Washington DC. What was so fascinating was the attention to detail. A must see, with a quick chat with the nearby military guarding the President’s residence.

These finely carved and crafted statues of Mahatma Gandhi and his followers of different states during Dandi March in 1930 give a great message to everyone today. This was in protest against tax on salt, a product of daily consumption by a common citizens. You can watch it minutely and admire.

This statue is literally a poetry in stone. An extremely lovely piece of sculpture at the most prominent intersection of Sardar Patel Marg and Mother Teresa Crescent formerly known as Willingdon Crescent.
This extremely lovely sculpture made by the most renowned sculptor Devi Prasad RoyChowdhary puts to life 11 characters of the most famous Dandi March. The leader is the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi and the ten followers are ordinary persons including women, priest, brahmin, peasant and general populace who rose as one person against the might of the British. Every statue is so vivid that if you look at the statue closely you feel it is going to speak to you any moment. It is an extremely beautiful piece of art and to appreciate it one should get down from one's vehicle and halt at this place and explore the beauty of every character for at least a few minutes. It is an extremely lovely feeling to be just there and admire the creation of art.
It is a great tribute to our spirit of national freedom struggle, the artist and the great father of nation.

Gyarah Murti or 11 statues in New Delhi is a symbol of India’s freedom movement. One of the key milestones was the salt satyagraha. The British rulers had imposed a hefty tax on making salt. To protest this, Gandhi and other key leaders marched 240 miles over 24 days to the coastal village of Dandi and produced salt. The march was entirely peaceful and adhered to the tenets of non-violence that Gandhi held so dear.

I would have passed this place umpteen number of times driving past Mother Teresa Cresent. The statues of Mahatma Gandhi and his followers going on Dandi March in black marble stone are architecturally and estheically pleasing. The lawn all around the central piece is very well maintained. At last light, the arch-lights are switched on and light up the statues and the surrounding area such that it looks even better than in day light. This place forms part of the VIP route- national and international dignitaries often drive past this location. Overall, a good place which forms a gem in beauty of Lutyens Delhi and is matter of pride for all Indians.

Everyday i cross this place twice and think of spending some time at this place and to take few pictures. Located at S P Marg one end. Beautiful architectural marvel. It is Statues of eleven people from all religions depicting famous dandi march led by Mahatma Gandhi. Just next to the security wall of president house. History very well depicted, must see place. You can park your caeon one side towards Mother Teresa Crescent and climb few stairs to reach Gyarah Murti. Actually you will find security personnel, but they won't stop you as they are on security of president house. .

This beautiful statue commemorates the Dandi or Salt March.

For any one interested in Indian history and/or in Gandhi this is a must see in Delhi. My advice is to watch Gandhi (the movie) before you visit and then make a special detour to this statue. I think the usual tour buses only drive around it, but it is really worth it to make a special stop here, so that you can really experience it.
