I used to always wonder that how come the present West Delhi has hardly a historical monument. When I came to know about this Minar I was gratified that at least one existed here. It was an effort reaching there and the look at it made me lose heart. This minar which has been there for about 400 years is so much encroached upon that one cannot get a view of the entire tower from the surrounding area. Houses built all around are almost touches the tower. As it happens there is no description about the monument. As expected it was locked. I took a few rounds to appreciate its historical importance. I read somewhere that Shahjehan built it for hunting purposes and the height gave advantage view. Maybe we should have more sense of the history and maybe we should protect our monuments better. Rating is based on historical value of the monument.
