Place of Brave
Jan 2020
The Samadhi Sthal of youngest Indian Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. It lies close to Raj Ghat and Shakti Sthal. The lawn at this site seen covered with well-trimmed grass and many big trees. The design of the memorial is two squares in angular relationship signifying the day of the birth & assassination. In the center is a stone platform with lotus flowers craved in granite stone.

Memorial to Rajiv Gandhi
Dec 2019
The Vir Bhumi is a memorial dedicated to the former Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi who was assassinated in 1991. The memorial features a sculptural group of lotus flowers, which you wouldn’t know was a memorial except for the wall of honour with a biography of Gandhi. There’s also a second wall with a portrait of Gandhi amongst the general public in bronze relief The memorial is situated close to many other Samadhis inside the memorial park including that of Mahatma Gandhi, and the mother of Rajiv, Indira.

The memorial is somewhat innocuous looking, but for its proximity to that of the 2 aforementioned memorials. I wouldn’t go out of the way to see this unless you’re already visiting Raj Ghat.

There is nothing to be told about this place. It is only good to stroll in evenings or mornings. Other than that nothing in it.

Vir Bhumi is the final resting place for Rajiv Gandhi who was Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989 and who is credited for initiating IT and communication revolution in India. He was killed by LTTE cadres during 1991 general elections in Tamilnadu.
