Purana Qila (Old Fort) is one of the oldest forts in Delhi. Its current form was built by Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Sur Empire. Sher Shah raised the citadel of Purana Qila with an extensive city-area sprawling around it. It is believed that the Purana Qila was still incomplete at Sher Shah's death in 1545, and was... More

The place where the Shah lived at some point. This place was built and rebuilt several times over a long time. There are archaeological digs showing human presence for centuries. But not much is left.

A very old fort of Delhi. Well maintained. Few well preserved structures inside the fort. Nicely sign posted with history and importance of each structure given.

Simply awesome !!! Been in Delhi for quite some time but finally got dragged for 'another' light and sound show by my daughter. How wrong my perception was....... This was the best Light and Sound show that I've witnessed till date. I won't write much about it - you have to see it to believe it. Certain points for consideration:... More

Purana qila or old fort is located near nizammudin and can be easily accessible via public transport... It is a place of historical importance and can be great destination for family picnic and historical learning.. Maintained nicely this place has a big garden where one can relax and chill out... Highly recommended...

One of the best historical monument but not well maintained. There is sound and light show (except on Friday’s), that can be seen . Has a great architecture. Unfortunately it looks like couple point.

We spent a few hours here, mainly soaking up the view from the grounds which are pretty, and relaxed. Some work being done to repair part of the monument, but generally well kept and maintained.

Better than the Lal Quila, I felt, although quite smaller, but the few buildings inside are in a better shape. Plenty of description tables are around, with interesting references to the architectural features of the Mughal style. The Bada Darwaza Gate is an excellent photo-op place. Both the Qila-e-Kunha Mosque and the Astronomic Observatory, the Sher Mandal where it is... More
