Neighborhood: Connaught Place/Janpath
Connaught Place, the heart of New Delhi, is one of the largest commercial, financial
and business centers in the Capital. The sprawling horseshoe-shaped circular
heritage market is a white dot in the green city, filled with shops, art & handloom
emporiums, fashion boutiques, an underground market, cinemas, a range of vintage and new restaurants & bars lined along the inner and Outer Circle. In the midst of all the hustle, CP is great for chilled out evening strolls and people watching,
introducing the beauty and rhythm of the city. The ambience gets more colorful as
you stroll along Janpath and the Central Cottage Industries Emporium, considered
among Delhi’s best shopping areas.

The entire area is cordoned off and so we were not allowed to go anywhere near the building. The view from a distance didnt do justice to its grandeur. The visit was so poor that the BSF posted there even shoo off cars dropping the visitors. Things should be managed better and tourists shouldnt be shooed off like stray cattle!

It is a distinctive and magnificent building complex. A true classic in its style and architecture. Best to see it externally. Between the intense traffic and the place being heavily guarded the direct access is practically impossible. Admire but from the outside

To be fair, I totally understand why, from a security point of view, you are not allowed up close. Indeed I was politely told to refrain from even photographing it. But it's still a lovely stately building and worth a short stop in a taxi or whatever as you visit the nearby India gate.

This is an architectural beauty and a circular building. British had made it in 1920s. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, members transact business here for discussions and former making laws for the Indian democratic Republic. You must spend lot of time to understand the working of this place.

I have been a regular visitor around the parliament building. One requires a special visitor pass to enter the building. It is not possible for a common man to visit the area even when the parliament is not functioning.

The Parliament House or the Sansad Bhawan is a circular colonnaded verandah structure. This amazing building follows some older buildings in Delhi in its outer design. Mohammad Shah’s (Lodhi Gardens) and subsequently Isa Khan’s (in the precincts of Humayun’s Tomb) tombs have a collanaded verandah structure.
Guess the similarity with the pre-Mughal tombs in Delhi is a coincidence. But too uncanny to let it be. The British were more inspired by the Roman Colosseum than their more mundane Indian counterparts. The Parliament building has 144 pillars and is 560 feet in diameter. The foundation stone was laid in 1921 and it was inaugurated in 1927 as the Council House.
The Central Hall is circular in shape and the dome is 98 feet (29.87 meters) in diameter and supposed to be one of the most magnificent domes in the world. This hall is where the transfer of power from the British to the Indian provisional Government took place. Just for this one reason – it’s a national heritage site… where the birth of the nation was formalized!
Cant visit it due to security reasons. But have driven past it so many times that I think I know it all! If you can, do drive past it and you will be in awe of its sheer regality!

In Parliament House Delhi, the Indian Parliament meets. This is a massive spherical building. It comprises three semicircular chambers- Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and the library. There is 27.4m high dome. Architect of this building is quite a feast for the visitors eyes.
The Entrance to outsiders is not allowed without official permission. To enter the library, an entry pass can be obtained from the Visitor's reception. Entry and photography inside the Parliament is free with permission from relevant authorities.

Do people suggest going inside or is it just worth going to look at the building from the outside?
Written September 15, 2018
Those who have interest to see the parliament proceddings and such buildings must visit inside too. However, to get entry inside is not that easy.
Written September 16, 2018
how can we book for tour? any specific days allowed? how much time does it take?
Written May 10, 2018
I had visited Parliament inside in my official capacity. I dont know how to get entry for people otherwise. The Parliament building is a monument and has been an interest for the travellers to see from outside in the evening. Once reach there, stay 1-2 hrs in the park in front, admire the looks and enjoy the kulfi, papad etc from the hawkers around.
