- keith hChesham, United Kingdom1,028 contributionsBeautiful Lodhi Garden. If you are looking for a respite from the hustle & bustle & pollution of New Delhi a visit to Lodhi Gardens is the perfect destination. Whenever I am in Delhi I always pay at least one visit to the gardens & I generally make a day of it by firstly visiting nearby Safdarjung's Tomb prior to walking round to Lodhi Gardens. Afterwards I either take a tuk tuk or walk to the beautiful grounds of Sunder Nursery. Lodhi Gardens are situated in a quiet , up market area , not really far from central Delhi. If you are feeling like a good walk you can walk all the way along Janpath from Connaught Circle to reach there. Otherwise , take the metro to Jor Bagh or Khan Market & it is a short walk from either. If you go to Jor Bagh you can visit Safdarjang's Tomb en route. The gardens cover 90 acres & are extremely well kept & patrolled. Large expanses of grass are punctuated by mature trees ( some labelled ), numerous walkways & paths , flower beds & numerous seats. Tombs & structures from the Sayyid & Lodhi dynasties are notable . Also the Athipula bridge which spans a lake near the garden entrance on Subramanian Bharti Marg. The bridge dates from the reign of Akbar & the lake features a high reaching fountain & many geese & ducks which have the use & safety of a large , fenced compound. The gardens are very popular with Delhiites & you can see many families enjoying a visit with picnics , some with pet dogs. Also it seems to be a popular venue for couples to get videos made of themselves in their finery. Ladies walk around with baskets of children's toys for sale , balanced on their heads & if you are fancying a hot drink there is usually a roving chai wallah to be found. Near the Lodhi Rd entrance you will find some glasshouses & flower beds & a great cluster of flowers in terracotta pots. Lovely place to visit - stroll about , sit on a seat , soak in the vibe.Visited November 2022Written December 4, 2022
- Sonia MakhijaJaipur, India121 contributionsMust add to your delhi trip itinerarySince we stayed in Taj Ambassador New Delhi, Lodhi Gardens was quite close to our hotel and was on our list to go for. Hence we went right in the winter morning around 11 am and had a great time. The garden is not just a garden its a beautiful place to have some me time, family picnic sort of time, relaxing and aaway from City chaos especially Delhi traffic and pollution. It has monumental structures hence serves great backdrops for photographs as well. It was not too crowded as well and if you love a bit if history, architecture and peace then this is must to add on your list to Delhi.Visited December 2022Traveled with familyWritten January 1, 2023
- Saurabh Jain26 contributionsNice place for winter picnicLodhi Garden is very nice and clean place for Picnic with family & friends. There are lots of trees and well maintained grass along with jogging/walking tracks. Sometimes dance/drama kind of activities happen there, which add to the energy of the place. Washrooms are also usable. Couple of negative points: 1. It can be difficult to find car parking in peak hrs (winter afternoon, summer evenings) 2. There are hawkers selling tea, chips, toys, etc.Visited January 2023Written January 23, 2023
- kjobl97Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom184 contributionsAbsolutely recommendVisited the Lodhi Gardens alone on a beautiful, sunny Saturday afternoon. Not only are the gardens beautiful with historic monuments scattered throughout but they have an incredible atmosphere. Lots of groups of people enjoying the open spaces, relaxing, dancing and enjoying themselves. Take a book, find a shady spot and enjoy this beautiful oasis.Visited February 2023Written February 25, 2023

There were also old structures to see which was very interesting. The park was large and weather just perfect for a quiet respite from the city.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 9, 2023
- John SColumbia, Missouri3,257 contributionsHighly recommendI have been to Delhi 10+ times over the past 6 years. On my most recent trip I discovered Lodhi Garden and fell in love. It is a beautiful park with several tombs and historic sites inside. What I love is that it doesn’t feel like you are in Delhi. You cannot hear the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a quiet oasis. I went on a Saturday and it was not crowded at all.Visited March 2023Traveled on businessWritten April 29, 2023
- Joseph D11 contributionsBest Park in Delhi and Free with plenty to seeLots of tombs to explore which are free to see and great for photos. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Delhi as a top site. Has some public toilets inside which have a small cost. Great ponds and excellent for wildlife. Beautiful fountains and small activities like stepping stones. Gardens are well kept and clean. Excellent place for a break from the busy streets of Delhi. Close to great shopping in khan market.Visited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 25, 2023

I love everything about this park: the flowers, the birds (parrots, geese, etc), the monuments. You can walk, run, bike, play on the grass... it’s just a great place to be among monuments in Delhi. On the weekend is full of people enjoying the outdoors. In the morning many do yoga in a wonderful setting.
There are also potable water dispensers throughout the park for those very hot days!
The park is super clean and the stray dogs are friendly.

We walked from Claridges and it took about 10 minutes to get there.
The gardens are lovely and big with 90 acres and 3 different tombs and a small lake although it needs a clean out.
We went on a Sunday and the gardens were packed with 1000's of families all meeting and enjoying picnics. Playing cricket as you would expect in India and football and other racket games. It's been a long time in the UK since I have seen so many generations of families get together and enjoying themselves, it's a shame it doesn't happen back in the uk.
You could walk around the gardens for hours or just sit and watch the world go by.
Lovely tranquil place to visit.

One of the best places in Delhi for family picnic, pre-wedding photo shoot, morning walk and evening walk. One can simply spend time with their family or friends on the lush green lawns. The tombs, the trees and the greenery all around will give a relaxing feeling. There is no entry fee and photography is allowed.

Lodhi gardens are one of the most popular gardens in the city. They're great for morning and evening walks, workouts and taking your pet dogs.
There are tombs, bonsai gardens, open gyms, a lake and a small butterfly garden.

Lodhi gardens have been developed and maintained in New Delhi, lodhi estate since the time of mughals. Till date they are well maintained and one should pay a visit for sure if visiting delhi. The gardens have tombs built in as a memorial of the delhi rulers and their queens and children too. Many foreign nationals and tourists can be seen taking a morning walk in this area.

Big park in the hub of the city with a few historical buildings. Perfect place to relax during winter afternoons. Plenty of docile dogs in the park and families out on picnic. Entry is free for all, but no food and water are sold inside the park.

Generally the Lodhi Gardens stay off the beaten track for tourists visiting Delhi the first time. However, these gardens should be on the must visit list for anyone interested in history and architecture as they house several monuments from the myriad pre-Mughal Islamic dynasties that ruled Delhi. Some of the relatively restored monuments include the Aathpul, Bada Gumbad mosque, Shish Gumbad, tomb of Muhammad Shah Sayyid and the fort like tomb of Sikandar Lodi.
These gardens have served as the location in many movies and picture shoots. However, due to their expanse they still offer a great place for unwinding (in the daylight). It's a five minute walk across the road from the splendid Safdarjung tomb and about 10 minutes walk from the Jor Bagh station on the yellow line. And the best thing - it's free of cost for one and all.

The gardens are beautifully kept. The range of flowers and foliage was impressive as were the chipmunks (certainly not squirrels) scampering around. The air of tranquillity in a busy city was unexpected. Only downside was the issue with parking out the park.

No food court in Lodhi Garden. There are some walk around sellers of snacks , soft drinks & a roving chai wallah,.
Think there are a few food snack stalls by the Subramanium Bharti Marg entrance.

1) Is Lodhi garden open nowadays? (september 2020)
Considering the lockdown or covid effect.
2) Do we need tickets to enter?
3) Can we have a get together of 5-6 people and bring eatables and cakes for small birthday moment?
Thanks
