We had decided to book a tour of Rajasthan and worked out our itinerary and with the help of Trip Advisor we picked our preferred hotels.
So who to book with?
Select India and Mr Om Prakash were very helpful so we decided to book with them.
Our itinerary needed a little tweak and a couple of hotels were not available but in the end we were very happy with our proposed holiday.
First problem was paying the deposit.
We were told dollars or Indian Rupees but this proved very difficult to transfer from UK.
4 months later deposit was eventually taken in pounds.
Om then allowed us to pay balance on arrival and arranged to change money for us all in pounds, this was fantastic and saved alot of hassle and stress.
Then we were supposed to be met by Om at airport but he wasn't there and I had no way of contacting him as WiFi not available and my phone network would not allow me to dial out.
Luckily I found a tourist information desk and a very kind gentleman contacted Om and in a few minutes appeared.Twenty minutes after our arrival,so not the best start to the holiday.
We then met our driver who was to look after us for the two week tour,
Mr Desraj. He was the most incredible driver.Polite, always punctual, helpful and very safe which you need on these roads.
If you do a tour definitely ask for Mr Desraj.
We started in Delhi then Agra Jaipur Pushkar Jodhpur Narlai and finally Udaipur.
Saw some spectacular sights on this great itinerary.
Most of our guides were excellent and so knowledgeable but always tried to take us to a factory/warehouse for us to buy something which at time of booking I particularly asked not to happen but happened at every place.
AVOID PUSHKAR if you are planning a trip. Dirty and not alot to see but also a huge scam.
Also Narlai which is a unique place to visit,be very careful food wise as certainly Rawla Narlai Hotel although beautiful is certainly not the cleanest.
Everywhere else was just beautiful and all those cities should definitely be visited without hesitation.
Definitely planning to go back to India in the very near future, would I book with Select India yes I probably would.
A fantastic holiday with long lasting memories and once again a HUGE thank you to Mr Desraj for lookingafter us for the two weeks.
