We have stop here on three occasions on the way to the Smokies. It is the halfway point for us. A little off the beaten path, but that is the way we like it.

Nice views there. The scenic drive is good but a bit too long. The recommanded stops are nice to enjoy tye view !

This place is a vast area of forest. We stayed at Cheaha and took a short trip into the National Forest for a hike to a waterfall. We did wait for the rain to taper down before our hike. We would like to come back and explore this vast forest even more.

While we enjoyed staying at Hollins hunters camp and the little bit of hiking we did, many of the trails we attempted are not well marked and signage is not accurate. Many trails are difficult to follow. There is beautiful scenery, but it would be great if it were easy to find hiking trail maps and if campgrounds and trails showed up on google maps. I had to order a National Forest Map to even find the hunters campsites. This park, while nice, needs to catch up with the times.

chinnabee silent trail was closed when we arrived to hike it. we drove on around and found cave creek trail. signage is absolutely horrid in AL..the forest is beautiful but being informed of where you are is imperative when traversing/hiking an area, especially when there is sporadic/zero signal for electronic devices. being advised that the chinnabee trail was closed would have been appreciated, prior to arriving there. absolutely no indication of this on any site and good luck finding someone nearby who works for the parks and has information.
