About
Tours: due to the Coronavirus we are no longer operating scheduled guided tours to the general public. In the future we hope to offer educational group tours by appointment. Also we hope to offer bird-watching tours between November and April. Finca Los Monos (the Monkey Farm) is situated on Isla Colon, the largest island in the enchanting archipelago of Bocas del Toro, , Panama. The islands enjoy a steady temperature of between 80 and 93 degrees (27 C – 33 C) all year round, with adequate rainfall to keep them lush and humid. Over the years we have created a magnificent garden with large collections of heliconias, gingers, palms, flowering trees, fruit trees, spices and ornamentals. New plants are constantly being added to the property. We are open for plant and flower sales.

Thanks Jane, our lovely and fun guide, who took us through the garden.

Me and my wife enjoyed the tour. The tours knowledge about the plants and animals was fascinating and entertaining to listen.

In addition to the plants and the wonderful garden we saw the cutest little night monkeys napping.

I can recommend this fully to anyone who enjoys nature, plants and animals. Thanks!

We visited the gardens on our last day in Bocas on a guided tour with the delightful host Jane. What a wonderful morning! I learned soooo much. Jane is clearly passionate about this place and has loads of fun telling guests about all the interesting plants, birds and other creatures one finds in this little piece of heaven. Highly recommended when you need a change of pace from all the beach-going.

We went to the botanical garden today, and it was closed. Our taxi driver on the way back connected us with the owner, who said it would probably be closed until December. So call ahead!!

I put 5 stars so as not to hurt the rating, but I would have skipped that step if I could, since I didn’t actually see the place!

I'm sorry you missed out on the tour and came when the garden was closed. I did post it on my web pages and other advertising to forewarn people. I will advise when the garden is open for the scheduled tours again. Requests can be made for group bookings or events.

This place is amazing!! Lin and Dave were super! We did a 1/2 day retreat and the pool and food could not have been more impressive. Started with a 2 HR tour by Lin where we saw 3 kinds of monkeys, birds, sloths and all kinds of plant life that Lin is so knowledgeable about. The pool area was so beautiful and the open bar fantastic. What a treasure these two and their place is!!

We really enjoyed our visit to this amazing botanical garden. It was huge, with lots of different things to see, including unusual flowers, plants and trees, sloths, a caiman and even a tiny monkey hiding in a tree. Jane was a great tour guide, very welcoming and enthusiastic.

We had a lovely day with Jane as we toured these lovely grounds. The magnitude of work that has been lovingly put into combining original with transplanted vegetation was much appreciated by those in our group. Jane has a great combination of knowledge and humor and was a thoroughly enjoyable guide.

I’ve not taken the tour yet but have been there many times purchasing trees and plants. Great selection of native plants.
Owners are lovely people!

We met Jane at the gate and quickly established a rapor like we were old friends. We spent a very enjoyable three hours being told about the history of the gardens and the owner who we were lucky to meet about 1/2 through the tour.
Jane was informative and entertaining with her sometimes unique nomenclature for many plants. Our highlight was seeing a juvenile sloth actually moving! This was unique for us as all the rest were sleeping or pretending to.

This tour has been one of the very best of our travels through Panama and we both highly recommend it.
