Don't bother with the 4am trip to see sunrise. Its a tourist gimmick guaranteed to freeze your unmentionables off. You would also most likely see more mists than sun. Makes much more sense to take a leisurely drive up after 8am where you see more spectacular scenery. The sea of cloud left me in awe. Beautiful, bwautiful place.

We booked Song Syue Lodge at Hehuanshan hoping to catch the sunrise (which we did not get to see as it rained the next morning). Instead, we were rewarded with a spectacular sunset from the East Peak hike (which was right behind our lodge) on the day we checked in. East Peak trail is comprised of mostly boarded steps. However... More

It was a Long ride up to the mountain from Cing Jing, but our driver Charlce Du (+886 972 383 138) drove us up safely. It was cold, but regretfully it did not snow the day we went. A tip will be to prepare heat packs as it will be cold at Wuling, the mountain top

Departed the Silks Place Hotel in Taroko at 9am and reached the peak more than 2hrs later and 3,200m higher. Totally worth the trip as the view was simply breathtaking. Do take some warm clothes as it could be cold with the wind, although it can get pretty hot at the same time so layering recommended. Note the road up... More

We booked a Sunrise tour to catch the breath-taking view of the sunshine in the early dawn. It was 5 Deg in the early morning around 5am. It was cold but definitely worth it!

I stay there to realx and hike a bit. It is only easy hike appart from the North, West and East peak. I went there on my own, and met a lot of nice people. Even if at this time it was freezing, the view and the place was amazing. There was some snow and during the night the temperature... More

If you're a photographer, this place is a must visit for you. The mountain is 3km high and the temp will reach zero at peak so prepare some thick winter clothing if you intend to visit. The mountain has a beautiful view of the sunset so photographers would not want to miss that. Peak is not accessible by bus so... More

Hiked a steep set if stairs to the summit. The scenery was great all around you. You walk past an old dilapidated ski lift on your way up. A great view from the top... but it was a little intense due to the lack of air for someone who lives around sea level. Even if you're not an athlete you... More

Spend a few hours of your day coming here, highly worthwhile. You can visit Cingjing in the morning on your drive up, and hike Hehuanshan in the afternoon. Afternoon has best views and mist, for spectacular photos. Finish by 4pm and start driving back.
