The whole lake is surrounded with attractions. Ferry ticket cost NTD300 per adult. There are piers/wharves, temple, pagoda, cycling trails, hotels with history or stories, tea-leaves egg, B&B lodging, souvenir shops and many more. All piers offer scenic and sunset views from the correct vantage point. Shuishe Wharf seems like the popular start-point of the ferry journey. There are many... More

Plenty of places to explore, if you like hiking, take a ferry to the nearest stop and start walking to the pagoda dedicated to Chiang Kai Shek's mother. It might take about an hour to walk there depending on the heat, your fitness level and your mental fortitude for pushing past the initial crowds at the ferry stop. Once there,... More

A day visit Sun Moon lake was a wonderful moment spending with family. It is a beautiful lake with mountain surrounding and the imposing temples. After visiting the temples, go up on the hill, take a rest and enjoy the fresh air. Hiring a boat to go around the lake and discover the histories.

Visited Sun Moon Lake whilst staying in Taichung. The lake is beautiful itself and very big. We drove up and visited the Xiangshan Visitor Centre which has a good view across the lake. We then drove around the rest of the lake, visiting some of the various temples and other attractions available (gondola, aboriginal village, etc). There are options to... More

Went on an early morning boat cruise on this renowned lake. It was a rather relaxing ride as the air was fresh, lake water was calm and its surrounding was tranquil and mesmerizing. The boat captain gave us a run down on some of the histories of the lake and also pointed out prominent landscapes. Overall, the 30 minutes round... More

Visited during the weekday so it wasn't as crowded although there were still a lot of people. Enjoyed the view, the boat ride, the tea egg and the short bike ride around the lake.

The whole place is around the Sun Moon Lake, which is quite a big lake (against the traditional idea of a lake). You'll have to take the ferry from one place to another. The temperature was nice and cool, Taiwan is not a cold country so should be OK for most. Pretty good number of hotels / B&B Inns. I... More
