Without a doubt this is one of my favourite places. The lake is so serene and beautiful. There are a few nice places to explore by boat. The only pity is that it's very touristy so it can get very crowded and there is basically nowhere decent to eat - all tourist traps.

It is a wonderful experience wake up in the morning satnding on the balcony over-looking the lake in tranquility, and enjoy the fresh mountainy air ! Watching the ever changing shapes of clouds among mountains in the early morning or evening is also fascinating experience. Riding a bicycle around the lake is another healthy activity for those like challenges. Enjoy... More

The lake is really very beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't care for the surrounding amenities: the restaurants, cafes and hotels could be much much improved - Sun Moon Lake is a real gem of Taiwan, with a great area for walking through the exotic trees etc. (omg the huge spiders!), it needs the surrounding villages to do it justice!

You can take a ferry ride around the lake for 30 mins but its nothing interesting. Lots of tourists spending the day there, only to eat street food. In the neighbourhood, visit LaLu hotel situated at the top of the cliff, for a energising afternoon tea buffet. If you've ever been to any lake in the world, you can skip... More

If you going by their boat, the lake is divide into 3 places,a temple,a street and the centre area. If you just want to go around you can drive around also. This place nothing much to tell, for me it just a small lake. In mandarin this place call as ''潭,Tan'',if you google translate its a pond instate of lake. Me and... More

Hi I went to Sun Moon lake in December 2014 on the HSR (High Speed Rail) with my Taiwanese guide Andrew then we hired a car to the lake where there were lots of locals and tourists taking advantage of this scenic area. After taking a cruise ship around the lake then visiting a temple then having lunch at one... More

We went in December. It was packed with tourists. Open your eyes and take note of tourists spitting. Would be better if they had limit the number of tourists to the area.

The photos lie-they do not completely tell you the unparalleled beauty of this most beautiful lake-you got to visit and experience it in person. The beauty of the lake is enhanced by the surrounding mountains. Don't miss for the world the fabulousness at the crack of the dawn at the Lakes, around 445am in the morning. Its a sight to behold and cherish... More

You have to go on the cable car ride as it will take you above the aborigine village and to the lake, and back. The lake is beautiful (we stayed on the other side of the lake), and the aborigine village is informative. Didn't manage to give the theme park a go though, entrance fee is reasonable, did not eat... It is a famous tourist spot but it is still worth a visit. Especially when you must visit the Farmosan Aboriginal Culture Village which I highly recommend not to be missed. We took the ferry touring the lake and visited the Syuanguang temple for a short hike the hill. Of course everyone line up for Ah Ma Tea egg. Also... More
