This is one of my favorite place to visit in Taiwan. I've been there for many times. you can have boat tour first time you visit. Then you can have different activity there. Camping, cannon, hiking, bicycle above the lake, fishing, swimming, cable car to the theme park, or just sit beside the lake. There is swimming race every autumn.... More

The lake is smaller than I expected but very scenic and the towns around it are interesting to walk around. The boat trip was ok but not essential if you want to drive around, however, parking could be difficult at busy times. The cable-car was good, we didn't go to the theme park, though.

Took the cable car ride which was hot and stuffy even though it's winter. The sun was very hot. Nothing much to do there. Food was expensive and taste average. However, the view from the TOP was great!

Relaxing place in Taiwan, but it is crawling with tourists. You can't swim in the lake which is sad. The boat rides are good.

Visiting this place is such a relaxing experience, a beautiful place in the nature with nice views from all around the lake. Well worth the time it takes to get there. Just go there enjoy the view, join one of the boat tours if you like or take a walk around the lake or just sit at one of the... More

Eitger going on a boat or biking around the lake, it's a very nice place to visit! Clear water, nice sightseeing, being close to the nature is very comforting and relaxing.

I began my Asia travels in Taiwan in 1999. My work has me come to Taiwan from the USA at least 2 or 3 times each year. I estimate I have visited Taiwan 35 or more times. This is my first time up at Sun Moon Lake, and I am so glad my Taiwan Business friend simply said, "This is... More

This is a really pretty area. It os a tourist area and busy, but the lake is verty lovely. You can do a boat trip across it, drive around it and stay at a homestay oveooking it. The view from the cablecar down to the lake is recommended
