Man made breakwaters give safe swimming areas, the sea is warm and lovely to bob about in for hours, there can be a strong undertow and some strong currents so the safe areas are great.

One of the most beautiful beach in Tangalle and in far down south of Sri Lanka. Isolated from the city and with many lodgings and restaurants available for guest to use.

Lovely sand and a great beach to walk on. Sadly it was unsafe to swim in during July. It may not be like this all year though.

This is an unspoiled beach where you can walk to your heart's content. Beach is very clean and calm but safe to walk even in the evening. There are lot of hotels along the beach yet you won't get disturbed.
There can be huge waves so you have to be on the watch. But beach is very wide except for a place or two and you can be safe.

stopped by the beach today. beautiful! its a little bit of a walk from the bus station. there is a lot of family styles hotels on the road. to get a tuk tuk back to the main bus stop, someone needs to call for one.

We stayed near here for 3 nights in August, had superb weather and then huge beach was almost deserted. It's a classic palm fringed tropical stretch of coast, has a few low key beach bars and is a great place to relax for a few days. When we were there the sea was rough and extreme care should be taken in the sea....there are strong rip tides here and we had a serious near miss!! There are lagoons behind the beach as well which are great to sit and watch the birds or to hire a kayak. This part of the coast is a bout a 15 min tuk tuk ride east of Tangalle.

The beach itself looks picturesque from a distance though when up close you see quite a bit of rubbish. As the lagoon comes in close by the water is murky which for me was unexpected. There is quite a large swell with rips and currents which I would recommend except for stronger swimmers.

This beach is one of the peaceful beaches in Sri Lanka even during the Tourist season. This is not as happening as the Mirissa beach but it is quite a nice place that anyone should not miss.
There are many beach hottels available around and the Tangalle lagoon is also situated near Madilla beach.

I usually some here to get away from dress I deal in Colombo. It is relaxing to lay down one a Sun bed or swing in a hammock with a nice icedtea in the day time or to have a Mojito in the evening while you enjoying the sea breeze.

Just like in Bentota, Madilla also is the pics to experience a beautiful sunsets. If you wake up little early in the morning you get to see thousands of parrots in this area starting their day.
