At Ashram Sri Lanka, our tranquil retreat is more in-line with the Ashrams of the past. We offer simplicity. We offer a clean and peaceful space. Our Ashram is nestled in a beautiful environment, surrounded by nature in all its magnificence, with fields of greenery and flowers that envelop the senses. We share in nature’s space. We nurture our environment and show it compassion. We believe that our oneness with ourselves and our shared environment ultimately connects to the larger universe and beyond. A retreat with us will provide you with the time and space you need for introspection, reflection, contemplation and meditation. The ultimate aim of meditation is to seek freedom from the wheel of ‘sansara’ – the cycle of birth and death. Even though it is a difficult task, it can be obtained through effort and dedication. I have sunk into deep meditation and felt this inner peace, which is so important to me in life. Thank you Sam for this great time in your Ashram! I hope i can come back soon! Close to the meditation place, it is somewhat separated in a very quiet and relaxing environment. the main house has now got a new terrace. Built over the old terrace you have a wonderful view over the forest. There are loungers there for resting as well as small work tables for working on the PC, for example. the rooms have now got new roofs. Sam has built a beautiful little world for himsef and his guests in the middle of the jungle. I never felt like I was lacking anything during my stay there. The food was healthy and nutritious, the environment full of marvelous natural wonders and the conversations and places for peaceful alone time inspiring for the soul. A small paradise in the jungle, quiet and peaceful.
Food is delicious ! Sam is a great cook and a very interesting person, he is very welcoming and will make you feel at home immediately.
The accommodation is basic but it's lovely to wake up with the sound of the birds in the early morning.
It's the perfect place to rest and take some time to reconnect with yourself. I had a great time there and I met very nice and interesting people.
Food is delicious ! Sam is a great cook and a very interesting person, he is very welcoming and will make you feel at home immediately.
The accommodation is basic but it's lovely to wake up with the sound of the birds in the early morning.
It's the perfect place to rest and take some time to reconnect with yourself. I had a great time there and I met very nice and interesting people.

It was a great experience, I really enjoyed these 3 days, 2 nights and the time and conversations with brother Sam and sister Lena were so nice. They are very nice people. Brother Sam cuisine is amazing! 😍 This place has a very positive energy and I really recommend it to everyone who wants to have interesting conversations, taste delicious local food, have some rest and beautiful pure nature far from crowds ✨

I was in the ashram again in December. A lot has happened there since my last visit. the yoga house is finished. This place is best to relax and chill out, I'm with my friend owner of kalapuwa herbil Garden koggala visit ashram . If you in sri lanka just visit there it's a beautiful jungle ashram...vegetarian food from the garden, birds give you nonstop natural music...I recommended every body this beautiful place...

I spent 3 days in the Ashram and I was very very happy! This place in the jungle is a paradise. I have sunk into deep meditation and felt this inner peace, which is so important to me in life. Had an amazing time. Initially booked for two weeks, but end up staying more than one month. When you start really experiencing the slow living and free life, it’s very hard to get out of that place :) I feel extremely grateful to have had that time just to be, to be present, to breathe, and to appreciate how wonderful simple life can be. I found home, very far from original home, and for sure I will always go back to this new home. Thank you Aya and never forget, LLW💙

I loved this place for the peace mostly because it's what I was looking for. Sam is a very welcoming personn who will teach you a lot if you take time to talk with him. Everything here is a question of taking your time and feel life. The atmosphere here is beautiful but has to be respected. It means: Switch of your phone, switch of you mind, appreciate nature, deep conversations and the beautiful meals.
I loved the rooms also, which are open air space and very original, but be aware that it's not 5 stars confort, so if you're looking for that, go to an other place :)

If you are looking for a social detox in the jungle, this is the place for you! There is the option of going on various retreats or (fasting) cures on your own. Yoga and shared meditation time is also offered. The food is highly recommended: it is mainly cooked on a fire pit and traditionally in clay pots! It is also very tasty and healthy. I also had the great opportunity to talk to like-minded people from all over the world. Thank you, Ayo Sam, for this wonderful experience and the experience I was able to have in the ashram! I learned a lot about meditation and about myself in a very short time.

Hello,
I'm planning a one month trip to Sri Lanka and would like to discover meditation for one week at the begining of the trip.
I'm very interested in the ashram but I was wondering if you offer guided meditation and yoga. I've read there are no scheduled classes.
Does that mean it's only individual practice or is it possible to get advices and some guides practices for beginers?

we no have Guru (teacher) like other ashrams around the world ,when you at the ashram we give our best help and guidance to you
we only do empty mind meditation practice in the ashram

its about 230 km /
Take highway bus from Katunayake to Colombo fort or Matara and get down at Matara Main Bus stand .Form Matara take Bus to Mideiniya ,get down at in front of Katuwana AGA office and take tuk tuk to Ashram sri Lanka .
Colombo to Mideiniya Highway bus / this bus is going every day from Mideiniya to Colombo (katuwana 0445 AM) Colombo to Mideiniya (Colombo – 0330 PM ) call 076 781 9130 for reservation.
Note – Try to take Mideiniya Bus before 17oo hrs (5 o’clock evening ) because less buses in the evening.
