Angammedilla National Park is one of the new national parks in Sri Lanka. The region was designated national park in 2006. The park is declared mainly to protect the drainage basin of Parakrama Samudra, Minneriya and Girithale irrigation tanks, water sources in Sudu gange (River) and habitats and wildlife of the adjacent forests. It is located 225 kilometres (140 mi) away from Colombo in the Polonnaruwa District.
Once inside, the park can be accessed by 4WD vehicles and on foot. I suggest you go on foot as it gives a better feel to the ambiance. The park is home to many endemic birds, butterflies and other insects of Sri Lanka. The scenery too is a photographer’s paradise.
The option of staying in a bungalow inside the park is also available; booking can be made in advance through the Wildlife Conservation Department Office in Battaramulla, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The park comes with some splendid nature trails guided by a naturalist from the park itself and is ideal for amateur/beginner hikers and trekkers. The trail supposedly ends at a beautiful stream (citation needed).

It's one corner of the Parakrama and where it is also the water basin for some other irrigation tanks too. Rather than the national park, Angammedilla Gal Amuna (Rajabemma) is the more attractive place for me. (Rajabemma means King's weir)

Access is recommended through a SUV or a off road cab. The road condition is adventurous and in fact the next best place to spot elephants after kawdulla.

Not a large National Park compared with others, but a place to visit if you love the Flora and fauna

There are better parks in Srilanka.....Wasgamuwa park on the other side of this park is far better than this place.

Hi, I see from above that you can walk here. Is it required to have a guide? How long are the nature trails? Cost of entry to park?
