This is the second largest stupa in Polonnaruwa, built by a queen of King parackramabahu the first. . Situated next to world famous Lankathilakaya .

Gleaming white, its name means ‘milk white temple’. It was built by Karakramabahu to honour Subadra, his wife and queen. It has been minimally restored. It still has its original lime plaster. It soars 95’/29m in height with a hefty circumference of 280’/85m.

This large white stupa is located near the Lankathilaka. It is reputed to have been built by Queen Subadra, one of the wives of King Parakramabahu 1. It's original name was Rupavathi Stupa.
Sign 91 on site states that it probably derives it's present name from the fact that the lime plaster of the dome is better preserved than most other stupas in Polonnaruwa. An impressive sight, the second highest stupa on site at 24.5m height.

This is a stupa believed to have been erected by Parakramabahu-1 on behalf of his consort Queen Subadra. The name Kirivehera literally means 'milk stupa' and probably took its name from the many layers of shining white lime wash originally painted on the surface of the structure.

Interersting and certainly one to cross off on your tour but I have to say it is just another Stupa. After a bit they become somewhat 'OK Seen that let's move on' . It is notable for being white and hey ho without meaning to be irrelevant it is just another Stupa.

Not far from the enrance to Gal Vihara just across the road is what I consider to be another of the the best parts of the Polonnaruwa site, the Lankathilaka Image House and Kiri Vehara stupa as well as many other smaller buildings.

Kiri Vehara is a sizeable white covered ancient daboga/stupa .It really is a large stupa and round it are dotted many smaller dagobas and the walls of other buildings that would have constituted the city around it.

This is 'just' another big stupa, a white one. Compared to others in the ruins of Polonnarua it isnt amazing, but by itself it is still impressive.

The Stupa is located next to Lanka Thilaka Temple. Not much is known about the history of the Stupa, however, it is believed to be built in 12th Century. The Stupa is known for it White colour. There are some ruined structure, next to the Stupa. It appears that the Stupa has been given fresh coats of White Paint at regular intervals.
