Polonnaruwa has it all - wonderful monuments, religious icons et al. The old town piece is a wonderful example.

This elevated terrace is known as Dalada Maluva (the Sacred Quadrangle) because the Temple of the Tooth was located here.

It is structure which is in ruin, without a roof and is located among the collection of ruins in the Polonnaruwa Archaeological Area. The existing structures and sculptures are quiet artistic. The structure must have served as Buddhist Vihara in its glory days. Unmissable during a tour of the Polonnaruwa Heritage City.

Once again it's nestled among the ruins. Dalada Maluwa is where the sacred tooth relic had been placed
