Isini Gems is committed to providing our customers with the best value, quality, service and selection of Ceylon Sapphires, Diamonds, Pearls and other gemstones and jewellery in Sri Lanka. The store was initially started by its founder as a small scale store and since then it has grown into one of the most respected gem and jewellery retailers in Sri Lanka, and presently serves local as well as foreign customers. Since the beginning we have ensured high quality and unique designs in our jewellery collection and treat each customer as a unique individual. This is our third time visiting Sri Lanka and we were fortunate enough to stumble upon Isini Gems.
When we entered we were greeted by a lovely woman who ushered us upstairs to view a documentary film on how gemstones are mined in Sri Lanka, It was very interesting and my wife and I were quite surprised by the fact that they still use the same methods that were employed hundreds of years ago, with seemingly the only exception being an automated water pump.
After the documentary we were met by a gentleman who gave us a tour of their museum and workshop, he showed us what the gemstones look like before and after polishing and told us about the rich history behind all the gems in Sri Lanka. The tour ended in the showroom that was quite large and had a staggering amount of jewellery from gold to silver.
A Blue Sapphire ring caught the eye of my wife and after a bit of negotiating we were able to have it for a reasonable price, and the best part is that when we had it valued in Colombo we received a valuation that was 300£ more than what we paid! My wife and I are ecstatic and we can’t recommend this place enough!

It’s a planned scam, don’t trust anybody that tells you otherwise. Let me tell you my story. Paid 250€ for a ruby (0.45c) and a sapphire (0.67c). Found the very same gems on eBay for <50€! Absolutely a scam! The visit feels really positive. You get a video presented, get a small guided tour and then you get a positive feeling at the shopping place. No WIFI or 3G inside, so no way of verifying the information presented. My tour guide, who I thought was a really down to earth guy, told me that the prices are fair and good. Now I’m sitting here, thinking of how stupid I was. It felt relatively safe and trustworthy compared to other places. Mistakes were made, lessons learned!

Kevin, we are sorry to read your review as it appears you have written it based on your misconceptions. Sir, eBay is not an authority on valuing gemstones, in fact many layman have been scammed by purchasing gemstones from eBay. If you search for sapphires on eBay I'm sure you'll even find 1 or 2 carat ones for as low as 30$! should you be brave enough to actually purchase one of these eBay gemstones, we're sure that you'll either find it's of very low quality or not even real.
Determining the value of a gemstone isn't like valuing a watch or other man made products, colored gemstone such as sapphires are valued on many factors such as cut, color, clarity and carat weight! each gemstone is unique and has to be valued based on it's individual merits, meaning that only a gemologist after examining the gemstones can determine the value.
As such if you want to know the real value of the gemstones you purchased please consult a gemologist!

We wondered what we might expect when we arrived at Isini in Kandy as one of the scheduled stops on our holiday tour. Our guide had reassured us that Isini is a legitimate gems retailer with any purchases made under written by House of Tourism (HOT), our holiday company. We were initially shown a history of the business followed by a tour of their workshop. From there we went into their showroom and were surprised by one of the biggest collections of jewelry on display that we have ever seen. Bishul looked after us and answered all our questions over a couple of hours with a depth of knowledge that impressed us and at no time did we feel under any pressure. We bought a diamond and sapphire pendant with matching ear rings and are absolutely delighted. These items have since been inspected and valued in the UK and confirmed that our purchase has been a wise one. Customer service has been excellent and we have no hesitation in recommending Isini Gems in Kandy if you are looking for a trusted retailer to buy jewelry.

We visited the museum and showroom and were given a warm welcome, with delicious tea. The showroom is well appointed and aesthetically presented. We watched a film on how the gems are mined and then polished.
We were further educated by the manager, Mr. Brishul, who is knowledgeable and passionate about gems. He is quite an artist too, as we were shown some examples of his work-the custom jewellery he made for clients were beautiful - we were impressed! It was clear that he really knows his trade and is a master of gemology!

I have visited isini gems and jewellery. Amazing beautiful jewellery studded with yellow gold white gold and silver.
We have bought beautiful srilanka sapphire ring,earrings ,pendent and bracelet.

I do not recommend this shop by any means!!!! 9 months ago I bought earrings worth 145 600 rupees in the store. However when I tried them on in my hotel room I found out that earings were damaged and also the quality was poor. Then I returned the earrings and they promised to refund the money back to my account. By this day, I have not received my money, so I have neither the money nor earrings. I tried to contact the store multiple times but they did not respond to emails or other communication at all. They are cheaters and ruined my holiday.

511jankal, we are very sorry to learn of your experience. We pride ourselves on manufacturing some of the finest jewellery in Sri Lanka and usually received high praise from our other customers. We will look into the reason for the laps in quality and see that it is not repeated again.
With regards to your refund we apologize if there has been a delay as all our showrooms had to be shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are now in the process of opening a few of our showrooms and are working with limited staff.

Visited and all looks good and the place sems Kosher. Alas I paid a lot of money for a blue sapphire and diamond ring in 9k white gold. It was a con the ring was nothing more than cheap metal and stones. It left a nasty taste for the place and for our holiday in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Bishrul’s customer service is one of a kind, he helped me find exactly what I was looking for. He was very kind and patient even though I was being quite indecisive. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for precious gems in Sri Lanka.

Mr Fazeer was a delight. He was informative, polite and always ensured we were happy. We learnt about how gem stones were mined which was incredibly interesting then had the option of purchasing jewellery at the end. We bought 3 rings and are so happy with them! Amazing experience would definitely recommend.

Dear AlRewesh,
We are glad to hear that from your recent visit to our establishment, you were really impressed by our gem gallery, and how nice it was to learn from your comment that it was of great interest for you to have seen the original forms of gems, how they are cut and polished and converted into attractive jewelry. You should have been really thankful to your tour guide for having taken you on such an informative tour to such a place.
And, you supposedly have purchased a two-tone colored gem which was classed as “fake” by your jeweler. What a pity! Dear AlRewesh, you should have first verified the gem with a reputed colored stone gemologist. Normally your jewelers are more knowledgeable about metal and Diamonds, than of colored stones. They only give their opinions which are not binding, but the customer feels complicated. A gemologist would provide you a certificate. But AlRewesh, why did you not write to us first as you have our company name, address and e-mail address from our invoice.
Sad to say, some jewelers, maybe due to ignorance, deliberately condemn Sri Lankan gems just for pleasure and to stay in business. AlRewesh be careful. Do not fall into their traps. Jewelers would not normally check gem-stones for valuation. Leave it to the gemologists.
So, AlRewesh, send the complains if any, directly to us, and do not forget to quote the invoice number and include a gemologist's certificate, and await our response, and until you verify facts, refrain from posting comments on TripAdvisor, just because someone else wanted you to do so.
