I was really amazed by all the work he had in is store! He explained how to do the batik which was really interesting! So many different styles and colors! I bought a beautiful and unique skirt out of pure silk and I am very happy about it! Thank you for your time!! Can totally recommend it!

We spent 2 hours in this wonderful place looking at the very unique art pieces and clothes! In comparison to the other shop owners chaminda was very peaceful and didn't try to sell us anything just for the sake of selling something. We had really nice talks and he taught us something about patiks and buddhism! We bought some verrryy beautiful skirts and he even brought them to the tailor, since we had some special request! The pieces are real art work and you won't find any piece like another! Definitely worth the price if you understand something of arts and want to have something unique of high quality! Highly can recommend this place :))

We had a lovely experience in Jayamali Batik Studio. Chaminda was very friendly and welcoming and explained in detail the work that went into making the beautiful batiks. The passion and commitment to this family business and the skills passed down by his father was clear to see! He also didn’t pressure us into buying any of his work, but we fell in love with it as he explained and guided us through the craft. We bought a beautiful peacock batik and would have loved to buy more, but will definitely be checking out his website when we are back in the UK. You should expect a higher price tag, but this reflects the time and effort that goes into the work - one that will last for many years to come! Highly recommended :)

While traveling through Sri Lanka I was looking at various places to find some traditional handmade decorative items to bring home. The best ones that I could find were the batik products from Jayamali Batiks studio in Kandy. All the products are handmade by store owner Chaminda and his family. I got a couple of beautiful wall hangings and a silk skirt. They are special, unique and good quality products. I am looking forward to displaying these pieces of art in my house. As the wallhangings and clothes are light weight, they are perfect items to purchase while traveling (but it is also easy to have them shipped back home). I can highly recommend this business as it was for me the best art store I could find in Sri Lanka.

As a family we travel with our kids every August (as I work with schools so we make the most of our summers). We search out unique family experiences and always aim for a private encounter so our kids have some freedom to be and so we can focus where we see it working well with 4 little ones. This experience is up there with the best of them. CJ and his charming wife welcomed us into their home and guided us through the beautiful art of batik. We each designed, drew and waxed our batiks in CJ’s hand-built workshop. His kids came to join us after their school day and our kids played together on their rooftop overlooking the beautiful Kandian hills. CJ’s wife made delicious tea and served us biscuits and cake. We had an amazing day and produced some awesome batiks. Thank you!
