If you're panorama view lover, that's the place for you in Kandy. Chance to escape from the busy town and see it from peaceful place in other perspective. 200 LR entrance fee + cca 100 LR donation asked.

The walk up was good to do after a a fair bit of travelling, not super challenging but nice a sweaty though. You have to leave your shoes and they ask for a donation that you don't have to pay... another 3 metres they bring out the foreigners ticket book for 200 Rupeess.... the view and the breeze worth the... And I expect that if you are travelling Sri Lanka you may likely have travelled Thailand. Just assuming here, but follow me on this one. Thailand would make a big deal abiut such a huge hilltop Buddha. They would no doubt have signs. Probably couldn't miss it if you wanted to. It would also have a grand staircase approach. Painted... the buddha statue was not the best that we have seen, and considering the walk to get here we were hoping for better. the statues was covered in scaffolding. Appreciate that the statue needs to be maintained but we still paid full price to see it, slightly disappointed!

The statue was so big in person that I nearly creamed my jeans. You can't helped but be awed by the size.

from the lake it takes a little over 10 minutes to get to the statue and the tuk tuk ride cost us about 300 rupee since it was up the hill. Really great view at sunset, absolutely worth going to if you have a free night in Kandy.

The walk up is very steep but rewarding when we got here you have to take your shoes off which is the norm but again a "donation" was needed for it and when we entered foreigners had to pay 200 each which annoyed me further as I Sri Lankans don't have to pay. But we walked all the way up... More

Reminded me very much of a similar statue overlooking Phuket Thailand. Can get busy but worth the visit and the views
