If you have done the temple of the tooth you do not have to make this climb unless you particularly want to see it.

I walked all the way up to the Budda Statue but I asked some locals for direction or you can also ride a tuk tuk up there. You can see a beautiful view from Budda's shoulder with 200Rs entrance fee. You also need to give some tips to the boy who keeps your shoes. You can see some... More

The statue is visible from Kandy town. Get a tuk tuk to drive you up or walk (15-20 minutes up a hill). Once there you can climb the buddha all the way up to his shoulder and get some really nice views of Kandy down below.

Great place to spend some, take a picture, climb the stairs around the statue and enjoy the view over Kandy. You do need to buy a cheap ticket these days, but it's enjoyable for about half an hour (so don't plan your day around it)

A lovely view if Kandy go in the evening during sunset. Much better. The view is very good you get to go on top of the shouldee of the Buddha.

Great to get up close to the massive statue on the hill overlooking Kandy. But that is all that there is there. Entrance is 200 LKR. The ground gets really really hot!

Located on the hill in Kandy. And after visiting several Buddhas in Sri Lanka, this was just another one. However you do get a good look of the city from there. The steps and the area around get very hot, so do bring socks.

200rs entrance fee Leave shoes at the entrance for a donation fee. We climbed uphill to the temple. A tiring walk if you are not fit, but it is absolutely worthy.

Silly, ignorant me. Until I read about Kandy once I was already here, I had no idea about this monument. And then I looked up at the mountains from the town centre and said "Wow!" I opted for a tuk-tuk rather tham walking and was glad I did. It's a long, steep way up. I got charged around 200 rupees.... More
