One can still feel the bygone days of great cricket matches played on these grounds, both international and local. There have been wonderful moments and achievements played here. It is a shame to see no more international matches being played here. The newer grounds are far out of town and do not have the same ambience. My husband, his brothers... More

Beautiful cute little Sri Lankan cricket ground once a test cricket venue but no more. A lot of charm and character in a Sri Lankan way

The old scoreboard and some of the stands are slowly crumbling away from neglect. It's a shame to think that international cricket will never be played again at a ground in such beautiful surroundings and with such a history. It's still used for local league/school matches and a wicket was being assiduously prepared for tomorrow's match when I went for... More

it is a shame that they stopped using this ground and moved to the pallekelle stadium, which is, of course much larger. But this ground is very scenic

I was organizing a six a side all island invitational hockey tournament to celebrate my school's anniversary and I must say that from the very beginning to the very last moment ground staff helped me in every way they could. Without their help the things could have been messed. The welcome was excellent. Ground curator is a nice gentleman. Nice... More

There are few stadiums in Kandy. Asgiriya stadium is one of them. It is the closest to town and the other one is Bogambara stadium. Asgiriya stadium was used to play most of the international cricket matches before the Pallakele stadium was built. The picturesque scenery from one end and the range of hills surrounded by it makes it a... More

Another very famous stadium for Cricket in Kandy. Selected for many international cricket tournaments. Large crowd could be gathered at any time and is very spacious but facilities are not nice

I used this ground as a school boy and during my school years, I played Cricket and also did athletics at Asgiriya ... I went there very recently and it was good to see the old ground all same, properly maintained and good for sports anytime ...
