I had the pleasure of having Saman as our guide during our 18-day trip to Sri Lanka, and I must say it was an incredible experience. From the very beginning, Saman was highly responsive and attentive to our needs. He took the time to understand my passion for photography and ensured that our trip was tailored to capture the most stunning images of Sri Lanka.
Throughout the journey, we covered a staggering distance of 2800 km, exploring every corner of this beautiful country. Saman's knowledge of the best photography spots and hidden gems was truly impressive. He guided us to breathtaking landscapes, vibrant markets, and cultural landmarks, allowing us to create unforgettable memories and capture amazing images.
What stood out the most about Saman was his professionalism and responsibility. He was always punctual, organized, and ensured that everything went smoothly. His polite and friendly nature made the trip even more enjoyable, and we felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our time in Sri Lanka.
I cannot emphasize enough how highly I recommend Saman as a guide. His expertise, dedication, and genuine passion for his work make him an exceptional companion for any traveler. Found Saman through Trip Advisor Reviews and Google. I was limited to 2 full days and Saman planned my itinerary based on where I was staying and distance to travel from Bentota. We made changes throughout the itinerary as I was also travelling with my non photographer husband. We even managed to fit in Negombo Fishermen and a nice lunch at the Galle Dutch Hospital. I'd like to say thank you Saman, for you patience and photography advice throughout the 2 days, we thoroughly enjoyed our very tiring 2 days, you made sure I got the photos I wanted. I have some wonderful photos and memories of my short trip to Sri Lanka. I did appreciate your safe driving and didn't suffer from motion sickness at all. Also I'd like to say thank you for checking in on us to make sure that we were ok after our tour and offering assistance if needed. I will be back.

Hi Caroline, Thank you very much for the great review and appreciation of my service. It will help me a lot. Even I spent two days with you and David those were two amazing days. I think we managed to do photography as much as we can during two days. Add some more photos to Facebook taken in Sri Lanka. I would love to see. I must thank your husband; David too for the great support gave to us during our photo tour. It’s not too easy task to travel a non-photographer with photographers. He is very patience, kind and supportive. I remember well the support he gave you during our stilt-fishing shoot. He was there in the water almost one hour and gave a great support you for the photo-shoot. You are really lucky to have such a good husband. Meanwhile please try to continuously practicing your photography even though you have a busy day-to-day life. Do more practices of photography with manual mode and low light condition. I will send you some more tutorials. So I would be so happy to see you and David again in Sri Lanka, perhaps with your loving daughters!!! We will discover more things in Sri Lanka. A great company to deal with, we booked a car from their web site, within few minutes we had confirmation and then follow up emails and reminders. Everything went very smoothly and very efficiently the hiring process. The owner who was our driver, Saman was very polite and friendly. As well he is a nice photographer who is arranging special photography tours throughout Sri Lanka. The car was perfectly clean and nearly new and it is too worth for the price. I would highly recommend this company for anyone who is looking for hire, rent a car in Kandy.

With Saman's vast local knowledge and photography experience, you're bound to come back with beautiful images from locations off the beaten path as well as iconic scenes like the famous stilt fishermen!!
Not only did we manage to make amazing images but Saman went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and convenient. His car is excellent and having a vehicle available made working with my large film cameras a breeze.
If you're looking to photograph a diverse range of people and iconic lands capes in Sri Lanka this is definitely the way to go!

What started out as a tag-along trip with my photographer friend turned into an 8-day photography crash course for me! Having not used a DSLR before, Saman had encouraged me to borrow one to bring along so that he could teach me some basics (and probably so I wouldn't get bored). I have learnt loads about photography from both Saman and my friend in those 8 days (whilst still having fun), and glad to say that I can now shoot in manual mode with some confidence!
In our tour, we had covered mountains, jungles and sea, but my favorites were the safari tour to Kaudulla national park where we saw many wild elephants, walking the train tracks at Ella, and seeing the stilt fisherman in Koggala. A word of caution for those with motion sickness - it's many hours driving along winding roads especially in the central region where we visited the tea plantations, so some motion sickness medication would come in handy!
It unfortunately rained a lot of the evenings, but all in all, I had a really great time with both the photography and sightseeing. Saman was flexible enough in accommodating our wishes and also provided lots of advice on staying safe. He stayed constantly in touch even before we arrived as well as throughout the tour and ensured we were taken care of. Definitely would love another trip back there!

I am also so happy you learned manual photography so quickly by balancing shutter speed, aperture, and ISO perfectly. So you are one of best students of me, I must say. Some of your elephants and street shots are so beautiful. Please keep practicing when you have free time and watch the videos that I sent about photography. It's true that people make a holiday great more than the location. In this case, we were lucky to get both. A great location, plus a guide who could not have been better.
The bottom line is that I got some amazing photographs that I would not have got without Saman. He knows where to go, what time, who to talk to, and how to get the best shots. If you're a photographer, then this is what you care about.
On a personal level, if you're spending 2 weeks with someone, you better hope they're pleasant. I'm pleased to report that Saman doesn't have body odour or smelly feet. I can further report that I found his character incredibly nice and easy to get on with.
I consider him a real gentleman. Yes, he drives slowly. No, that doesn't bother me - we got everywhere on time because it was well planned in advance by Saman. It's a reflection of the fact that he cares very much about your safety, and the investment he has made in his car and equipment, and that should be respected too.
As a result of this trip, I have great memories, great photographs, and got to know a country with wonderful people, of which Saman is definitely one. I do recommend him without any reservation.

I really cannot say enough about Saman. He is a true expert and not only photography but also at being a wonderful tour guide! My partner and I were just there for a short amount of time but Saman helped us to cover a lot of ground in Sri Lanka! We visited Negombo, Colombo, Kandy, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. Saman knew so much information about each place we visited and helped us to find great accommodations as well. Each place we stayed was wonderful with great staff! If you are looking for a tour guide or photography tour I would highly recommend Saman. He is a very friendly, genuine and honest person. He has a love for his work and his country and you can see that in his smile!

We booked this tour one week in advance. It was lots of enjoyable and Saman provided us with information about photography as well as historic, wildlife about Sri Lanka. Saman is also very friendly and pleasant tour guide, you can always travel in a comfortable, private, air-conditioned car with him. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone that is serious about wanting to get more from their camera and about sri Lankan history and wildlife.

Everything about this tour was top-notch! Even before I decided to book the tour, Saman provided all the details I required, and even accommodated adding in a certain place/ruin for me that is not part of his regular tour.
He is responsive and extremely knowledgeable about all the best places for photography. The locations he selected were amazing and he clearly has a great rapport with the locals who were always so kind and willing to have their photos captured. His helpful tips and photography tutorials were invaluable and helped me to achieve some of the best portraits I have ever taken.
Even on our drives to different locations, he always stopped when I asked to photograph something that wasn't in the plan. The country is stunning, and having a local professional photographer as my guide, made it even more special.
As a solo female traveler, I always felt safe, and I can honesty say that Saman is now my friend.
If you are looking for a different and unique way of capturing this amazing country, I highly recommend Saman and Beautiful Sri Lanka. Expectations will be exceeded! Thank you Saman, for making my dream come true.
