Really good place to visit and you will enjoy lot with Dutch type buildings good place with lots of war memories

This fort is huge. It is the classic star layout with moats and drawbridges and so forth. Do notice that it was built from dead coral. Very pretty

A site to see but still is being restored.I walked from my hotel and it was a rather warm walk. You can see some views of city etc. It was good to contrast with Galle forte that i saw late in my tour.

Incredible fort in great condition. Part of Sri Lankas history. Opened and run by the Sri Lankan Cultural fund. Great place to visit.

The fort was built by the Dutch and later used by the English. It was damaged in the war between the Tamil tigers and the SLA. From the buildings inside remain only ruins, some overgrown with trees. The walls, ramparts and moat are beatifully restored....More

The ghosts of Portuguese, Dutch and Britsh masters inhabit the vast evocative ruin. The rubble of the old church is a reminder of the fragile recent Sri Lankan past. Climb the inner walls for great views of Jaffna.
