Obviously not a whole day out but a great place to visit.. You can smash coconuts chilli and garlic and have someone to chant your revenge against someone that has done you wrong. What i found more fascinating is that this small chapel was unaffected by the tsunami.

This temple is just in the water, in the Indian Ocean, surrounded by water. It has an interesting story as it is said it is the only building that survived the tsunami in 2004. We also caught the celebrations for their buddhist days, 3 days and 3 nights :) with fireworks, elephants dressed up and all sort of clothing...

We went here not as tourist but as devotees; followed the procedure recommended for the believers. This experience inspired us. Then the strange coincidence; when a beggar woman read our minds accurately and wished us well. For my rating of the shrine in the sea, I have considered it's unique and scenic location. Do not take any intoxicants or meat with you. The best time for the visit is 0700 to 1000hrs. as the ground gets pretty hot. May every blessing be with all of you.

A quaint Buddhist Temple driving from Galle towards Colombo - Seenigama is around 20 Kms. from Galle. A small Temple is also in the sea accessible only by boat.

Limited time so was unable to visit the Temple in the sea. I walked around the landside area only. Another time ......

This is a Buddhist temple with lots of myth. History of this temple goes beyond 1000 years. There is a belief that if there is injustice happened to a person he goes to this temple and grind Chilies then the God will punish the other person.
This is situated on the Colombo Galle way (Not the Expressway) and just before Hikkaduwa town.
Almost all locals on the way to south stops here, the temple is in an island so you have to go by a boat, some days you can't go there due to rough sea.
Very traditional place worth a visit.
Once again be careful of touts.

The Seenigama Temple is located on a very small island just off the coast at Hikkaduwa. We photographed it from the beach. It appears very peaceful and worthy of a stop to view.

The main temple is a boat ride away from the shore. For foreigners they will try to charge more for the boat ride. The temple is basically visited by locals and the belief is that you visit this temple to pray that your rivals gets punished. So a unique temple too.

This is very religious super natural place so if you visit please make sure not to offend . Need small but rough boat ride to the island. Breaking a coconut if you want blessings. Nice surrounding, lot of locals go there to complain about wrong doings by others to the Hindu goddess.

This island is attached to the temple that you visit in order to see it. We saw it from land, the beach was nice next to the temple and had lovely sand and a good sunset view. It has an interesting story -- the lore is that if you lose something and suspect that it is stolen and come pray at this temple, some misfortune will befall the thief, and then everyone in the village knows who the culprit was.
