The service and hospitality in Kandalama is beyond what I have ever experienced in any hotel. From the time we arrived at the front reception to the time we left, the customer service was flawless. We got to know the staff personally and learnt that Kandalama Heritance treats and supports their staff immensely which made our experience here more special.

A big thank you to the service manager (Lalith Ratnayake) and the entire staff for an amazing experience.

We have just returned from our honeymoon at Heritence Kandalama
What an absolutely stunning place, from the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty.

All of the staff from waiters, bar staff, chefs and housekeeping are truly amazing and the friendliest staff we have ever encountered, they really do make your stay that extra special.
The food was amazing, and the restaurant location is stunning overlooking the lake.
Big shout out to the manager who even opened the gift shop for us on our last day as we had to leave early.
The sights and sounds of this stunning hotel will stay with is forever, it is simply an amazing place.
We will definitely return.

This was one of my favorite massages ever, based on the massage itself, the beautiful setting and th whole experience - so peaceful, relaxing, restorative. It was described as “a popular body massage in Ayurveda. It assists anti-aging, relieves fatigue, improves sight, induces sleep, provides longevity, strengthens the skin, provides resistance against diseases and disharmony, and reduces ailments caused by vata and kapha.” I don’t know about all that, but it was wonderful. The room itself was simply beautiful w/ a view looking out toward the lake. And below the headrest was a bucket of lotus flowers and leaves – so pretty. Definitely a highlight. 8,500 rupees ($68).

Stayed with family for 2N-3D....a wonderfully designed property by Mr. Geoffrey Bawa the renowned architect...
The initial approach makes us think that we have landed in the midst of nowhere but when you arrive at the property it is a different feeling altogether...Welcoming smiles, surrounded by lush greenery, secluded location...
The rooms are big and very comfortable. Even the bathroom size is quite big and well designed....
Food: No complaints at all....Being vegetarians we spoke to the chef and he arranged good variety food for us...the breakfast and dinner buffet spreads are quite extensive...
Kids had a great time using the pools....

Must: Half board package as no other options for food nearby (and frankly no other options needed)

We stayed here for three nights and the service was excellent. It is a larger hotel and caters well for all. The breakfast buffet is excellent - your chef will prepare an omelette or pancakes for you. There's lots on offer at breakfast from Sri Lankan dishes to Western style food.

The two pools are beautiful- although the infinity pool that overlooks the lake is spectacular!

The rooms are excellent although they could remove some of the extra furniture to make the room a little more stylish and less cluttered.

You will see lots of monkeys roaming the grounds daily and a few elephants.

We enjoyed our stay.

Great property - excellent & helpful staff.
The views from the room are terrific.. the restaurant buffet serves a huge variety - though watch out for the flies & mosquitoes hovering over the salad station!
The live stations with south Indian / sri lankan food are good and recommended. Try the barbecued meat, sausages etc... yum!

Blending into the jungle, overlooking a lake. Distant hills create mad sunset photo opportunities. Terrific food. Excellent service. Easy drive to Pidurangala Rock, Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Dambulla Cave Temple etc etc. Room fixtures and fittings could do with a modest refresh, but still wonderful.

Loved this spa room! The girls were just lovely. From stepping out of your room to reaching the spa area the views already calm you down. Upon reaching there the ambience was perfect. Calm and serene. The room was minimal. The view outside the window was spectacular. However i wish they change the face of the bed so when getting a massage one could look out at the beautiful view. From the ambience to the massage everything was done to perfection.
