The building is located at a 2 mins walk from the City Hall. Built in an art nouveau style, the building is an art gallery. To host a piece of art the building doesn't necessarily needs to be a piece of art but again what's the harm!

It is a compendium of Art Nouveau drawing from the decorative repertoire of Transylvanian folklore.

The building is of such a richness that I was frustrated not able to list all its peculiarities. This abundance is explained by the fact that it was built in 1904 by Ferenc Raichle (1869-1960), himself an architect, to house its housing and his cabinet. Having earned his degree in architecture in Budapest, he came to Subotica in 1896. This man presented as a bon vivant, travel enthusiasts and enjoying the luxury, considered that nothing was too good for his palace. Unfortunately his prodigality dragged into bankruptcy and could not enjoy that until 1908. The fully furnished palace was auctioned. He moved to Szeged, where he remained four years before moving to Budapest, where he continued to work. It is a modern art gallery Art Encounters, which now holds the Ferenc Raichle Palace. Two for one - you get to look around the stunning Raichle palace, and you get to see whatever exhibitions they have on display.

When I visited there was an interesting/amusing photography exhibition downstairs, and an art exhibition upstairs.

Well worth the 100 dinar entrance fee.

Unfortunately like in many similar cases throughout Serbia nowadays, you have two realities: a lovely, fascinating building from some past, obviously advanced times, and its poor, sad and decayed content representing almost nothing about the contemporary spirit, as it should being formally presented in an institution called a "Contemporary Gallery" (I don't know why you have this addition "Likovni Susret" in the title of the section). Or maybe local and national artistic contemporary spirit is on that level now.
Still the building and its content are worth visiting and that will cost you less than a euro - anything cheeper elsewhere?

ONe of the first building what you can see from Subotuca is the Raichle palace. It is a real gem of the Hungarian style Art Deco, what Mr Raichle built for himself, and for his family. We loved the building.

Modern Art Gallery Likovni Susret was the most unique looking building with its Gaudi-esque exterior, the gallery inside was unfortunately closed when we visited.

The view of it is on the front cover of my Serbia guide and it did not disappoint. Inside they did not charge because they were setting up for an exhibition (modern art). The inside of the building was less exciting and the exhibition had little to my taste, so it did not add much to my visit. There are other notable building in the same street. Clearly well looked after.

Hungarian Art nouveau architecture at the top. Masterpiece of architect Ferenc Reichle, his personal Palace. Nowadays this building function as Modern art gallery. Every second of your life is worth visiting this place. Enjoy!

Truly beautiful! It's one of the gems of Subotica town, definitely must visit it if you're here! My visit was on Sunday so it was closed, but it's interior is what's breathtaking for me, hungarian secession style with fairytale looking windows and details, decorated with Zsolnay ceramics.
Also there's a beautiful yard of this object that you can visit from the another street neat which is now restaurant with a lot of decorations.
