Great gallery
Feb 2021
Great gallery! My purpose visiting Sombor was to see the gallery and I was not disappointed! Even those who do not know Milan Konjović can appreciate his expressionistic paintings!
The gallery is in the very center of the town. Entrance is not even 2 euros! Postcards are 50 dinars (0.20 cents).
Recommended from my side for sure!

Maestro Milan Konjović

The gallery "Milan Konjović" was founded in 1966 in a building built in the style of bidermajer in 1838 for the needs of its pharmacy, by the famous pharmacist Emil Gale, and today it is a jewel in the rich offer of Sombor culture, the pilgrimage place of fine arts lovers, Works for which interest is increasingly growing, and is included in the list of cultural goods. The gallery was created by the donation of a famous painter whose legacy initially amounted to 500 works of art, so that in time he would magnify it with new works, and he bought some of his paintings in order to enlarge that already rich fund. Throughout the time, other Somborians, especially his daughter Verocka, joined him with 14 posthumously donated works from their family, With which this greatly increased on today's 1084 oil on canvas, pastels, watercolors, tempera, drawings, etc. Which provides numerous and varied exhibits.

Largest collection of Konjovic's works
Jan 2017 • Family
Milan Konjovic was the only artists from this part of the world who had a solo exhibit in Paris's Grand Palais. Born in Sombor, he studied and lived abroad, and painted most of his life, starting with cubism, and developing his style characterized with a heavy, expressionistic use of oil on canvas. The Gallery has two levels - the lower level shows details of his life, the upper levels consists of four rooms with ca 50 paintings (changed regularly -- the collection totals ca 500 oils). Extremely helpful staff (Snezana) and the curator are happy to talk about his life and work. The monograph is ca 20 euros. Don't miss!

Gallery of one of the best painters in Yugoslavia
Sep 2016 • Couples
This gallery is located in the Square of Holy Trinity ( Trg Svetog Trojstva) between the streets Zmaj Jovina and Laza Kostic ( the serbian very well known poets). Milan Konjovic is the native of Sombor town.
We got in this remarkable gallery, which contains over the thousands selected works of the artist and such number of paintings and their diversity give insight into Konjovic's complete opus.
We very attentively passed from one room to another and saw some of his representative oil paintings, pastels, temperas, aquarelles, drawings, tapestries, mosaics, graphics, stained glass windows, also his stage designs ( he worked a lot for theatres) and costume sketches. Very evident, at the first sight, is the artist's recognizable personal expressionist temperament style.
This gallery ought to be seen when in Sombor, that is definitely.
