We used Nikena Eco Adventures to holiday in Montenegro as a family of five and I cannot recommend them enough.
Based on our preferences, our personal itinerary was planned so well and easy to follow. It was perfect in that we had some fantastic experiences with local guides (who are all amazing) but it wasn't overwhelming. There was plenty of time to relax as a family. All the accommodation was very comfortable and we ate so many delicious breakfasts!
We visited beautiful lakes, mountains and coast all in one week but it did not feel rushed. The locally produced food we ate was incredible and a real highlight.
It was brilliant for our children (aged 14, 12 & 9) to experience this type of holiday. It got them off their screens and trying new things.
Nikola was on hand if we had any questions or problems. The team and all the local guides went above and beyond with kindness and enthusiasm. Thank you to all!

Like others before us, we highly recommend the agency Nikena de Jelena and Nikola who have built a tailor-made stay to discover Montenegro off the beaten track but visiting the most remarkable places and rubbing shoulders with authentic natives. Jelena and Nikola also accompanied us with their judicious advice to adapt the initial program according to the heatwave that was raging in the country. A special mention to Marko who woke up at 3am to allow us to observe on Lake Skadar among others the curly pelican and live an exceptional experience. But our other guides (Bojdan Vlad and Marko) were also excellent. We will definitely return using Nikena. Thank you all again.

Amazing trip to magical Montenegro! Nikola organised a brilliant itinerary and accommodation for our family. We did far more than we would have managed or even thought about ourselves. Having all of our trips booked in advance saved lots of time and meant we got the best guides. Hiking, swimming in lakes, fishing, rafting, scenic drives, kayaking, boat trips and a few cultural stops were perfect family activities and there was also time to chill with a cold beer/juice/iced coffee in the sun. Mountain areas are a definite must-see in August - perfect weather and much less busy than the coastal area. Nikola made everything so easy. He got our accommodation choices spot on and was always on hand if we had any queries or there were mountain road closures. If you are thinking about Montenegro then we 100% recommend booking through Nikena Eco Adventures.

We had a wonderful holiday in Montenegro organised superbly by Nikola at Nikena Eco Adventures. With my two daughters we spent ten days touring round visiting some amazing places and meeting lovely people. Stayed and ate meals on small farms, vineyards and more regular apartments we did all the usual fun tourist stuff but also felt like we had discovered the country and landscapes. Although everything was organised well in advance we travelled independently from place to place (along some stunning roads!) and when small queries arose from time to time Nikola responded clearly and very rapidly ... highly recommended!!

We had such a wonderful, diverse holiday in Montenegro which was so well organised and arranged by Nikola at Nikena adventures. Usually, I plan our own holidays but on this occasion, I wanted help so we could truly experience the rich culture, the beautiful scenery and the warmth and hospitality of the people. We were not disappointed. Nikola was fantastic, as were the guides who were with this for hiking, rafting, fly fishing and kayaking trips. With two teenagers, we spent 2 weeks travelling around Montenegro visiting fantastic places/areas and stayed with families and in cabins. All carefully chosen and great in their own ways. We ate food cooked by local families and were recommended restaurants too. Amazing and generous.
Everything was organised by Nikola in advance, but we hired our own car and travelled independently. When we were unsure of anything Nikola was always on the what’s app answering our questions and providing alternatives if needed. Nikola responded clearly and quickly, and it really helped make everything run smoothly.
Montenegro – especially inland – is a truly stunning country and we were grateful to have visited with the help and guidance of Nikena Adventurers. Highly recommended.

Some journey it was: from the initial planning, all the expectations and ideas crafting them into one great tour for the whole family and finally after months waiting, making it come through this August. Altogether you tried a bit of everything and from the fly fishing at rocky Prokletije, to the lush greenery of Skadar Lake kayaking, I think every step of the way was filled with some great eco adventures and my mission in making you the best ambassadors of Montenegro and Nikena back in Norwich can be considered successful. Finally, loved the chance to catch up in person and discuss the details of the trip prior to your departure and definitely if you ever decide to return to Montenegro or the Balkans you are more than welcome to give me a buzz.

This was our first soft adventure holiday and visit to Montenegro. We had the most amazing time exploring this beautiful country thanks to Nikola and his team's thorough planning and care. Nikola made daily contact to ensure everything was on track and going well; and to see if any adaptations were needed such as road and activity choice.
We experienced a variety of cultural visits and activities in dramatic, beautiful and tranquil landscapes including visits to Old Kotor, Cetinje, Lake Skadar, canyoning in Tara Canyon, kayaking to the Blue Caves, walking in national parks, visits with local people and relaxing on the coast. These were enhanced by expert, personable guides speaking exceptional English who shared their knowledge, insight and love of their culture and history.
We could never have packed so much into a fortnight and this was just the right balance of guided activities and time on our own.
We had the most memorable and magical holiday; far exceeding our expectations and capturing the heart of Montenegro. It really was 'the real McCoy'!

First, Montenegro countryside, lakes, and mountains are stunning and plentiful. Having the guides arranged by Nikola was essential to hike and boat and explore unknown territory. This is really important in my experience.
Also the understanding of Montenegro’s (complicated) history comes alive by the selections of accommodations and guides. We particularly like Cetinje, as a city, and Nikola came to tour it with us one day, that was a treat.
The hosts at accommodations were varied and I developed a particular fondness and respect for Marko near Virpazar. Stay with him if you can!

And what a journey it was - over 3 weeks in my country, allowed me to offer you the most comprehensive of trips, with variety of landscapes, tours and people. Nikola had worked out a very nice trip based on our wishes. The contact with Nikola was via mail and whatsapp from the first moment super good. We wanted an active holiday of 9 days through the mountain areas of Montenegro and Albania. Also stay mainly in guesthouses of locals and get to know the balkan cuisine. Nikola and his colleague Yilli in Albania have more than exceeded our expectations. Every day was a party. We met many local people who cooked delicious for us. In addition, also greatly enjoyed the beautiful nature that both Montenegro and Albania have to offer and the hospitality of the population. Montenegro surprised us the most in a positive way. Those 5 days there were actually too short. Immediately a good reason to go back again. Then we will definitely approach Nikola again to work out something beautiful for us. Als ik jullie vertel dat ik tijdens jullie reis echt uitkeek naar jullie dagelijkse verslagen en fotocollage die jullie regelmatig stuurden, dan kun je je voorstellen hoezeer ik deze regelmatige uitwisseling op prijs stelde en hoe ik voedde met jullie energie en positieve vibes. Everything was just perfectly organised. They stay in contact througout the whole trip to make sure everything is ok. It seems that they are well-known by the different hotels and other organisations, which made it very easy to check-in everywhere. Great service!

Thanks to Nikola we had a fantastically beautiful and carefree holiday in Montenegro. Nikola takes care of the trip down to the last detail, so there was only one task for us: enjoy! He is super friendly and has great people around him who you also get to know during the tours. All super friendly and attentive. We got a great impression of beautiful Montenegro!
