This is the only thing to see in town. Unfortunately the capital of montenegro has nothing nice to offer...

Free entry and one of the best to see in MN. Spent around 45 min admiring the beautiful church with a long history. Not enough info about the church at the site. A must in Podgorica.

Very beautiful church, you have to visit as it is so peaceful and spiritual. There is work in progress on the outside which is very interesting, not often you get to watch a stonemason working! a must visit!

After a disappointing walk around town, I almost didn't go in. That would have been a shame. Beautifully picted stages of Christ's birth to crucifixion. We went all the way up to the dome. And its free entry.

Let's face it: Podgorica is probably the most maligned capital city in Southeastern Europe. We have to stop doing that! Let's focus on what the city has to offer and stop saying things like "It's not a pretty as Mostar, or it doesn't have all the museums of Skopje, or there aren't as many restaurants like in Dubrovnik."

This church is brand new. Yes, it still looks like a construction zone around the building. Did you expect them to complete the landscaping before they opened the church? Come on. They are still working to finish the church decorations so give them a break on the landscaping. They will finish it.

This church, while new and without historical importance, is of great importance to the Orthodox community of Podgorica. It is a new, modern, and beautiful place of worship, welcoming everyone through its doors. Go now! Just make sure you're dressed appropriately.

Huge new christian temple located between buildings. Architecture from another space. Unique Byzantine style church in Montenegro. When you go in you dont feel that you are in sacred place.

We went there on a Sunday and the hymns were absolutely beautiful. The Orthodox Church is fairly new, but is very impressive.

Another building in the Montenegrin capital to emphasize national pride and identity. The plan for an Orthodox cathedral in the center started immediately after the demise of communist Yugoslavia. In 1993 construction started and in 2014 the church was consecrated (rather similar to developments in Moscow and other parts of the post-communist world).

The design of cathedral shows a mix of different architectural styles: romanesque entrance, gothic windows, Byzantine domes, modern towers and square segments. Remarkable are the lower parts of the construction which look a bit like the remnants of earlier work, as if the layers on top are placed on a ruin. The entire interior is covered with frescoes (saints with weapons on one side, holy women and old men with scriptures on the other).

The surroundings of the cathedral look like a large waste land. Not embedded, but standing alone, the cathedral still attracts many believers. Not just old ladies, but also young men and women. I went there at the end of the afternoon, early evening. In many Orthodox churches people are praying and sometimes singing or in this case reciting texts from the bible.
