About
Roland Cooper State Park is a beautiful, peaceful campground on the Alabama River in Southwest Alabama. It has 47 RV sites, 14 primitive sites, 9 fully furnished cabins, a pavilion, boat launch, and Day Use Area. All RV sites have water, electricity, and sewer. The river is well-known for the great fishing. It is also a great place to kayak and canoe. The roads leading to the campground are paved and all sites are level and on a paved pad. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table. There are 4 bathrooms, all are heated, 2 bathrooms have showers with hot water and flush toilets. A dump station is located in the campground at no charge to those who are camping. There are two hiking and biking trails within the campground.

When we arrived the person checking us in was not very friendly. We had reserved a water "view" pull thru site, which we had paid extra for, but was given a back-in site which had no grass. The fire pit had not been cleaned out, I had to shovel some of the ashes out in order to make a fire. We will not be going back to Roland Cooper again.

The park itself is beautiful. The lake is lovely. We stayed in CAbin 4 and it is in dire need of a renovation. The lighting is terrible. The kitchen is not well provisioned-3 forks for a 2 bedroom cabin and no large spoons. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and are doubles. The way they are made up was terrible. The towels are skimpy. The toilet paper is the kind you use in a travel trailer. They have DISH but in this particular cabin (or at least that is what they said), you can't get local stations because a pine tree is blocking the signal. There was a beautiful view of the lake and the fire pit was nice. We left and did not stay for the second night that we had paid for, deciding we would be more comfortable at home. The check-in lady was very friendly and they gave us firewood.

We had originally booked 2 small cabins for a fishing trip (about 8) we were trying to get 2 close together but at that time they’re were not available. Then we received a call from the manager and said she did some arranging and had 2 bigger cabins available for use by the water . They went above sand beyond, the place is quite, comfortable and clean . Fire pits were a big plus and fishing was great . Will definitely be back .

We spent 3 nights in our RV on site 28 this past weekend and we absolutely loved it! Our site was waterfront with plenty of shade trees and access to walking trails. We enjoyed some fishing from the bank and we even ventured into town for lunch at Jackson’s fried chicken! What a blast! The facilities were very clean and the staff was very nice. We booked 3 more nights in November when we arrived home!

We had 4 sites and 2 cabins for 4 nights in July. The park is clean, the bathhouses are clean, the staff is super nice and helpful. The online reservation system was so convenient..we went over to the beach at Bridgeport and used the boat landing. It was all very nice. We have stayed here twice before and are already booking our next stay.

My husband and I tent camped here for 3 days. The primitive area was so peaceful. We were the only ones there. The campground hosts were amazing, so personable and helpful. There were a lot of fire ants and my husband is deathly allergic. They provided us with ant killer through our stay and checked on us to make sure all was okay. We rented one of their fishing boats with a trolling motor for two days. They provided life jackets and a just-in-case paddle. The price was reasonable at $30/day. It was nice to get out on the water and explore the river and we even caught a couple crappies for dinner. The bathroom facilities could use a bit of maintenance. There were sinks with no water at all, one very plugged one, one shower with a broken cold water handle, outlets that didn't work in two of the bathrooms. Despite that, it was a very pleasant stay. Great location on the river and close enough to Camden to easily take a trip to town. We will be going back.

We stayed three nights in a waterfront pull thru site. Everyone was friendly, the park was clean and quiet. There was no cable or wifi but we went for the get a way, it was great and we knew what to expect when we booked the site.

I've camped here 8 or 9 times and Everytime I leave there I plan on another trip. Very peaceful. Park staff has always been very nice and helpful. This park is set-up for the outdoor sportsman. Well worth the 90 mile ride.

We spent 3 days here with son and his family. Grandkids had a great time riding bike's and fishing. River was high and muddy so we only caught 6 crappie and 1 bass. Other people in campground were catching some good bass. Also saw several Bald Eagles. June in the office is great to work with but will be moving to a new campground in Mississippi. We stayed in one of the tiny cabin.

We stayed 7 days and nights last week -July 4.
It was hot but enjoyed boating & fishing. We stayed in Cabin 1 and were impressed with the house. Mr Ronnie was a fab host in making sure we were happy! We will return. The grounds and areas were well kept and beautiful.
