About
Roland Cooper State Park is a beautiful, peaceful campground on the Alabama River in Southwest Alabama. It has 47 RV sites, 14 primitive sites, 9 fully furnished cabins, a pavilion, boat launch, and Day Use Area. All RV sites have water, electricity, and sewer. The river is well-known for the great fishing. It is also a great place to kayak and canoe. The roads leading to the campground are paved and all sites are level and on a paved pad. Each campsite has a fire pit and a picnic table. There are 4 bathrooms, all are heated, 2 bathrooms have showers with hot water and flush toilets. A dump station is located in the campground at no charge to those who are camping. There are two hiking and biking trails within the campground.

I have been to Roland State Park several times. I was disappointed this time. The staff was great no question, but we stayed in cabin 1 which is one of the older cabins. I don’t mind it being old but they is hardly any pots and pans or things needed to cook in here anymore. I am not expecting to cook a huge dinner but need the basics. Also now the dish soap and bathroom soap along with paper towels are not included? I mean that is not a big expense. We brought our dog and I understand there is a pet fee but $25 a night? That is a lot! I will come back but obviously be better prepared.

Wonderful camping experience!
Jul 2021 • Family
We had 4 sites and 2 cabins for 4 nights in July. The park is clean, the bathhouses are clean, the staff is super nice and helpful. The online reservation system was so convenient..we went over to the beach at Bridgeport and used the boat landing. It was all very nice. We have stayed here twice before and are already booking our next stay.

Good fishing camp
May 2021
We have spent many fun days at Roland Cooper State Park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We stay in the older cabins and they are clean and comfortable. They are not new and this is not a luxury resort, but if you like fishing and peace and quiet, this is the place.

The park is clean, restrooms clean, grounds well maintained. Staff friendly and obviously efficient. I camp on motorcycles quite a bit, also have a RV. Will return if in the area. Very pleasant visit.

Tiny Home Cabins
Apr 2021 • Friends
We were in town on a spring turkey hunting trip and stayed in one of the new “tiny home” type cabins. I loved it! It’s perfect. I want to come back with the wife and do a little fishing. It’s a very nice park and Sue, the camp host we met, is terrific and couldn’t be more accommodating. I highly recommend the cabins.

Great place to stay!
Mar 2021 • Couples
Roland Cooper is a great place to stay. It is clean quiet and the staff is very helpful. We had a very severe thunderstorm with tornado possibilities happened as we stayed at Roland Cooper. I stopped at the office and ask if there was a storm siren. The park manager told me no but if inclement weather where to impact the park he would drive through the park blowing his horn so everyone knew it was time to go to the storm shelter.

great get-a-way
Feb 2021
We stayed three nights in a waterfront pull thru site. Everyone was friendly, the park was clean and quiet. There was no cable or wifi but we went for the get a way, it was great and we knew what to expect when we booked the site.

Not so good. Rules not followed by workers.
Feb 2021 • Couples
Very expensive at $36 a night, considering there is nothing to do in the area. We had sewer, but there is no Wi-Fi. Also appears that speed limits, and dogs on leashes, do not apply to the workers at the park. Plus the only laundry was $7 a load. Not impressed.
