Off the beaten track. Very peaceful quiet little place with very few tourists. Fantastic views over the bay. The Monks are very friendly and will gladly show you around and tell you about the history of the Monastery.

We ended up staying over an hour after we starting speaking with one of the monks who took us around the monastery, sharing the history of the orthodox faith and of the monastery. It was a beautiful experience, getting to hear everything firsthand from one of the inhabitants. Even if you don't get to speak with one of the monks, the places of worship themselves are stunning and well worth a visit. It was a nice escape from the buzz of the city as well.

This was a short walk from our Hotel at the top of Budva's ring road. Northwards past Pama Grill Restaurant and the first left folk takes you up to the Monastery. We visited on a Sunday morning just after a service, so met all the locals of different ages mixing and enjoying a beverage. The small souvenir shop was also open offering better prices than the shops and to a better cause. Great views across Budva and an interesting place to visit. Don't forget your water, there a couple of little shops on route if not.

I warmly recommend to all religious tourists to visit it, monks are very kind and it is real heaven on the Earth. It is situated high in the hills, but it definitely worth to visit and feel all the tranquility.

Podmaine monastery is located up the hill from the Budva center. Calm and peaceful, nice place to hide from the hassle and sun for a while. Monastery terrace provides beautiful view to the sea and Budva center.

Walking around this Monastery gives you a feeling of the peace and tranquility that abides above the town of Budva. The views of the town below are amazing but it makes you wonder what a great plain of land lay there before.

This monastery is located just outside Budva and is also known as Podostrog. It is worth doing for many reasons. The main ones being the historical significance and that it is specially fortified while sitting on a vantage point to see the rest of Budva.
