Utter rip-off. Oh, how I wish we'd read the reviews here before going in... no wonder the woman who took our 17.50 (two adults and a nine year old!!!) skedaddled before we could see very much - not that there is much to see. An expensive cafe, a pay per view telescope (a la Clacton Pier, 1959), some models of famous ships and a pretty, but otherwise undistinguished library. Unless you stop for an extremely overpriced drink, you're pushed to do more than 5 minutes before exiting with the distinct feeling that they saw you coming. Utterly un-recommended. Do NOT go! Just stick to being overcharged in the Old Town!

Central location of a visit to the Old Town of Budva, occupies its powerful Acropolis. It is located in the southeastern corner of the fortifications and at an elevated point of it. Its construction dates back to antiquity, but took a more specific form in 840 AD. Of course, its present form came through a series of reconstructions and additions, all of the conquerors of the history of the city. Its purpose was to protect Budva from sea attacks, which is why it is also known as the "Guard of Budva". The view of the old and new city from the top of the walls is amazing and worth the few euros of the entrance. There is also a small naval museum with wooden shapes of ships, as well as a wonderful medieval library on the 2nd floor.

I enjoyed this. I am not sure why some people complain about the 3.50 EUROS entrance fee. It's so cheap. What is the point of travelling? We need to support tourism. I can understand if it was 13.50 EUROS but seriously 3.50 EUROS? The fee covers the fortress, museum and library. Lovely views and worth a visit for those interested. Don't compare it to Dubrovnik. Each city and country is different. Appreciate things.

The citadel offers the most beautiful view of old Budva. Inside, in a small room, models of ships are displayed, and there is also a library. The walk around the citadel is beautiful and the views of the sea and the town are even more beautiful. The entrance fee is €3.

The Citadel is located at the heart of Budva's beautiful Old City and is definitely worth a visit.

The views are very nice and there are some lovely shaded terraces (with hanging beans, rather than vines!). The libraries were small, more like reading rooms, but interesting nonetheless.

Not expensive, so worth a look if you are interested in history and want to escape the overcrowded beaches.

Don’t be fooled. This really is a rip off at 4.5 Euros . The museum contains half a dozen model boats. Library is nice that’s all. Yes good views but you can get these on city wall for 2 E

I visited Pudova on a walk in the old town. A medieval citadel built on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea, on the south side of the walled old town of Budva. It says the citadel, but it doesn't give the impression of being militarized. Could it be an image of a castle or fort on a wall? I didn't enter because I didn't have time, but the terrace on the west side of the citadel seems to be a restaurant and lounge bar with a panoramic view of the old town and the Adriatic Sea.

It’s located in the centre, so you can’t miss it. I think it’s the best vantage point for the sea and the St. Nicolas (Sveti Nikola) island. We sometimes walked there and enjoyed the beautiful panorama. There’s lively and busting life in the evenings. There were some musicians who played nice classical music near the walls. It’s a must-see site in Budva.

The structure (aka Fortress of St. Mary) dates to the 1425 era and was designed to prevent attacks from the sea. Everything needed would have been housed inside, everything. Original building construction is dated much, much earlier.

Its most recent use was during the occupation by the Austrian army during WW II for troops.

Supposedly, the chapel of St. Mary is somewhere in the citadel interior.

The Award of admission in August 2024 is €5 per person. This Award is excessive for the proposed service.
No explanation of the city's history. Only the view is beautiful.
We were a family of 4 or 20 € to take pictures.
Otherwise the site is well maintained. There is a restaurant with a very nice view inside
