The Oradea State Theater is absolutely gorgeous both on the outside and in the inside.

If you end up visiting Oradea and you are lucky enough to catch a play in that timeframe, make sure you buy tickets. I bet you won’t regret it!

Today, the building is known as the "Queen Mary Theater" and is a truly remarkable construction. However, because the square in front is in a vast redevelopment project, few tourists approach this building to admire it. I hope that in 2021 we can enjoy another view, especially since, besides this theater, in the same area there are other beautifully renovated buildings - Astoria Hotel and Transilvania Hotel, but also two others that should be renovated Adorjan I and II Houses .

Very nice building in the center of Oradea. It's a must see. You can admire it's great architecture from outside and also the great interiors. It hosts both the Romanian and the Hungarian state theaters.

dominates Ferdinand Square with its imposing features. Situated in the center of a true architectural museum, this building in eclectic style imposes with exceptional craftsmanship. The construction, so avidly desired by the municipality of the age, was entrusted to renowned Viennese construction firm Fellner and Helmer. The two Viennese entrepreneurs, well known throughout Europe for their efficiency and good taste, presented a project to the Oradea municipality, and the construction work began on the 21st of July 1899. Due to the builders’ Rimánoczy Kálmán senior, Guttman József and Rendes Vilmos efficiency, by the 1st of October 1900 the building was finished and two weeks later the festive inauguration would take place. An art connoisseur may notice, on the facades, neoclassical and neo-Renaissance decorative elements, and inside, the predominance of the neo-baroque style. The statuary group in front of the theatre represents the two patron muses of the Dramatic Art: Tragedy (Melomene) and Comedy (Thalia)

This beautiful building is an emblematic place of Oradea. It was built between 1899-1900 (in Eclectic style in Oradea). It's located in the centre so you can find it easily. Two theaters work inside: Regina Maria (Romanian) and Szigligeti Színház (Hungarian). Unfortunatelly I have never seen a play in this nice building, but I saw some performances of the Szigligeti Színház in Debrecen. (It's nearby). It was very good so I would like to see a play here in the future.

The building is one of the most significant heritage buildings in Oradea. Its construction took only 15 months, from July 1899 to October 1900. The building was named after Queen Marie, the last Queen of Romania, known for her bravery and style, who was also a talented writer. Each year, at the end of September, the theatre organizes the Short Theatre International Festival. The local actors are very talented and loved locally.
