For those who are Orthodox believers this is one of the holiest of places in Romania.
A big cathedral as the center piece - home of the relics of the Saint Parascheva - in Oct every year is a pilgrimage with 10th of thousands of people flocking to this place.
The main church is impressive - however in the summer when I was there it was very crowded - so I did not entered ... queuing up in times of Covid for 15-20 min it is not for me.
The smaller church - the old St. George church - it is also very interesting but it was closed.
Otherwise also the museum in the location could be interesting - but at the end of the day large groups were flocking there ... so I skipped that 1 also.
Interesting, impressive to a certain degree , still not the perfect experience.

Very large , maybe the largest Cathedral in Romania is one of the main attractions in Iasi. The Cathedral is hosting the relic of Saint Paraschieva , very famous in ortodoxe Church.

If you are in Iasi and want to experience an Orthodox Christian liturgy, go to the Metropolitan Cathedral on Sunday morning (9-12 or so). The choir is divine and the service wonderful.

They should drop the fences separating church from the city. Nothing spectacular. Nothing for the average tourist

The Metropolitan Cathedral is the seat of the head of the Orthodox Church in the historical region of Moldova, in Romania. For those interested in the purely religious character of this location, here are the relics of St. Paraschiva, the church being an important pilgrimage center. For tourists who are not interested in this subject, they must know that the Cathedral has a truly remarkable architecture, so it is worth visiting

Wondefull! This is the largest Orthodox temple in Romania. It is built on the site of two churches dating back to the 15th and 17th centuries. A must see while in Iasi.

I have always been fascinated by other religions and until this trip, I had never been inside a Greek Orthodox church. The art on every available bit of wall space is awesome and the practices of the worshippers fascinating. One really needs to visit these places of worship to understand the Romanian culture and history! This compound was amazing as well because of all the buildings! Not to be missed!

This is a very pretty cathedral on the outside and the inside, however I would not say this cathedral is for touring. Most people going here are for religious reasons, so if you want to go inside as a tourist, you will definitely feel a little odd.

Ornate and very large Cathedral. A couple minutes walk from the Palace. A popular place for tourists and locals.
