Unforgettable
Nov 2019 • Family
This trip was beautiful!! Our guide was just amazing! He knows the desert like the back of his hand and offers a tour like no other. Yes it was a long day, but we made a few stops along the way to view the scenery! I went with my two kids ages 12 and 10, it was our first time at a canyon, they enjoyed it. The weather did change through the day, it started very hot and by the time we reached the final spot it had cooled down quite a bit. We definitely needed our sweaters!
We went with Waranqu, they have a bnb and they offer the day tours as well!

Something new to see in Peru
Jan 2019 • Friends
I didn’t expect to see something like this.
The drive there from Ica can be quite long (2 hours) but the walk is short and the view and landscape is worth it.
Go see it before it becomes too popular !

Drive to get there requires an adventurous spirit
Jan 2018 • Family
Sure, it's quite impressive to see a kind of mini-canon through which runs a river once in a while in the middle of a very dry, dusty and hot desert. However, the ride on forelorn tracks in through the desert is very uncomfortable to say the least. A 4x4 SUV is a must. Also I adamantly recommend to contract a reputable adventure trip agency from Ica for a guide. We met people who were lost with their car for 6 hours in the desert. No phone receiption, no village or even some huts for shelter along the way. 0 infrastructure. Very hot and in the afternoon strong winds (38 C. / 40 km/hr). Top of petrol tank before leaving and take at least 5 liters of water with you. I also recommend to register with the police in Ocucaje before entering the desert, just in case you get lost, puncture a tire or car overheats.

Go before it gets too famous!

A really nice experience deep into the desert, we were alone. We went with a private car and driver arranged by our Huacachina hotel. A beautiful natural site that will for sure get more popular in the coming years, I think you should go ASAP if you want to enjoy the exploratory feel of the tour!

Great trip!
Nov 2017 • Couples
We were looking for a more peacefull trip after having done the main tourist attractions in huacachina. We read the warning below abourlt robbery so we didnt bribg much valuables.

We booked the tour at the cruz del sur stand in huacachina, but it was actually also via inkasumi agency. We were supposed to get an english guide (for which we paid more) but our guide couldnt speak english. We complained about this the day after and they refunded us the difference. Our spanish was sufficient to understand at least something.

The drive goes 1h south, and then 1,5 hour straight into the desert, on basically not really a road :) scenery is really nice, and the walk through the canon is good as you know you are the only one there in a xx-mile radius. The birds hunting for lizards makes the atmosphere really rough

Avoid "Inkasumi - Adventure of Ica" agency when you want to go to the cañon
Oct 2017 • Couples
We went to Ica only with the objective to do the tour to the cañon de los perdidos and after some enquiries with the agencies located on or in the vicinity of the Plaza de Armas, decided to book the tour with "Inkasumi".

On the next day we were NOT picked up as agreed upon, and only after actively writing to/calling several of the provided contact numbers did we finally got the information that the TOUR WAS CANCELLED.
This means that all the time in preparing (going there in the first place, finding agencies, comparing, booking, getting provisions for the tour, getting up at 5:30 in the morning, waiting for +/- 1,5 hrs, going again to the office later on, ...) was wasted. If you're on a trip with lots of plans and limited vacation time this can be very annoying.

One positive note: the agency refunded the prepaid amount without any trouble or further delay after opening hours.

Amazing hidden gem!!!
Jun 2017 • Family
After having heard about this from some other travellers we wanted to go there. It is absolutely amazing! Yes the drive is long (around 2,5 hours), but wow every minute is filled with amazing scenery. You drive alone through the desert. The road can get really blown away by.wind, so please hire an experienced guide!! We did the canyon combined with one winery and transport to Nazca; this is way to much. The canyon is a full day trip I would say! Enjoy :-)

the lost canyon, it's what it's called!
Mar 2017 • Friends
you better don't get lost out there and go with tours who know the way and have the proper car ;)
after 1.5h drive through amazing landscape you will arrive at this beautiful canyon in the middle of nowhere, very nice to see. like a little version of the grand canyon!

MINDBLOWING CANYON
May 2017 • Couples
Discovered only 5 years ago, you will not find this canyon in a lot of traveller guides, but it is sooo worthwile!
Ok, it is a very long drive in the desert to get there (about 2.5 hours single drive), but the formations, the small lagoon in the middle of nowhere will make you feel so small in this wonderful big world!
Take enough water and snacks , sunscreen and a hat as you will see no one at all for the entire day.
One of my top things to see in Peru!

very interesting place
Nov 2016 • Couples
we decided to go to this place because we love places where is not many tourist cañon de los perdidos we like for its visually overwhelming size and its intricate and colorful sandy landscape. Geologically, it is significant because of the thick sequence of ancient rocks that are well preserved and exposed in the walls of the canyon. These rock layers record much of the early geologic history of the ocucaje is not easy to get there but it worth, very windy but great experience.
