The tour guide explained the process for making pisco in about 5 minutes and then we tried a variety of piscos. Everything felt rushed, but considering it was free, it's hard to complain. The place itself is beautiful and it was a shame not to learn more about the history of the place and the wine and pisco-making process.

El Catador offers an interesting pisco tasting that could be described as more “traditional” than pisco offerings than at larger distilleries like Tacama. It’s not particularly fancy, and the level of information you receive depends on your guide. It’s a nice quick stop, although not particularly noteworthy – it’s not worth going out of your way to try the pisco... More

it is free and I wasn't pressured to buy anything at all - so I can't slate it too much but it is a bit of a backpacker bodega rather than one for anyone interested in the stuff. Also, given the ancient and dilapidated state of the site, I'd be surprised if any of the stuff is actually produced here.... More

We stopped by, and just walked around, plenty to see. They had a restaurant that looked good. Really had a nice time tasting the Piscos. The staff were great. Good place to pick up small gift Piscos for gifts, and some for us as well.

To be in "El Catador" is like taking a trip back in time! The whole place is built in the traditional way with wood, mud, reed, stone, etc. An unforgettable moment was when the guide explained to tourists that in those pools still treading grapes to the tradional way done. Ceramic jars used until a few years ago to prepare... More

It was an interesting place to come and eat in the outskirts of the town. The food was good and very ethnic. The price was on the higher side for the quality of the ambiance, but the quantity of food with $20 was enough for 2 meals for 2 people. The most interesting attraction of this place is the decor,... We had miguel as our guide who was just great and able to crack a few jokes always lightening the mood. The information was spot on to our needs. The tasting was also very informative and gave us a wonderful understanding of the different piscos. If I did the tour again I would have avoided tacama winery unless you want... More

Our server was awesome & made sure we had an entertaining time trying the large selection of piscos made here. We visited a couple of other places, but this one was the most enjoyable by far.
