We walked to the church as we explored the town, but were only able to view it from the outside, with a funeral being conducted as we arrived. A casket was carried from the church and placed under an awning in the square for a continuation of the service. Out of respect we continued on our journey and didn’t get the opportunity to return. Externally an attractive building in a nice square, no doubt equally pretty internally.

Impressive on the outside and well maintained. Inside was pretty. People around the church and parishioners in the church were friendly, though the gringo almost always gets a second (evaluative) look over. Possible to get a pic with sun in the morning or moon with planned timing or dumb luck.

We walk to the church to see it and found a crowd gathered in the plaza in front of the church. Everyone was dressed up including some in traditional outfits. The band stared up and the dancing began. It was just past 10am and after a few dances, a few cases of beer arrived and they handed beer out to all who had gathered. We had just happened to stumble upon a festival for St. Miguel. The locals were friendly and happy to explain things.

The church is close to hostels and hotels. Church service is attended by locals and often has live chorus. The square is a nice spot to sit and enjoy the view of the mountains.
