This lovely little museum, a short walk down the road from town toward Machu Picchu, provides a great introduction to the site. The artifacts are interesting and nicely mounted, and the presentations about the history of Inca and pre-Inca cutlures and that of Machu Picchu...More

By visiting the Museo de Sitio, I was able to gain more knowledge about the area surrounding Machu Picchu. Go at your own pace to see and read how the Incas lived. See the tools, and other artifacts originally used by such inspirational people.

It's about 30 minutes from the center of town on a hot road with the buses going up and down from Machu Pichu covering you in dust. But once there, the museum does have some good artifacts and photos which gives a good overview of...More

Museum is a very big word per these place, but into small and far from the main cities ARE VERY GOOD. Some pieces, interesting video and smal botanical garden. Do not loose to walk from the town to museum; river and town views be good.

I had some time to kill in Aguas Calientes and decided to walk to the museum. The best part was the walk. Dead serious. I went in and for S/. 22.00 Sole (about $8.50 USD) you walk around the world's smallest museum. Took me about...More

Small museum, best worth the visit. Some excellent photos. Wish there were more photos as well as relics found at the site.

The museum had great information particularly about the infastructure below and around Machu Picchu that you can't see but is essential to its function and longevity. An understanding of the engineering is critical to really appreciating it. The museum is well done and really increased...More

It's a little out of the way--you have to walk down the road to Machu Picchu, about 1.5 km to the bridge and then the museum is tucked in the woods to the right after the bridge. The walk was actually pretty cool along the...More

You can walk but it will take about 45 mins. The buses to MP go past it but will not drop you off! The only other way would be a taxi. I don't know the opening hours but you can check that on their website.
